J.S (SOMIE) ANDERSON February 28, 1919 September 18, 2012 It is with great sadness that we share the passing of J.S (Somie) Anderson, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on September 18, 2012 at Teulon Hospital in his 93rd year. Dad was born in Arran, SK, February 28, 1919. He married his love, Mabel Pleasance and three daughters were born to them. Our Dad had a strong work ethic and a great love for the land. He loved people and visiting. He also passionately loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids! He was always helping them out whenever he saw a need. He became very active in New Life Church, Stonewall, in his later years and loved helping out. He also led the Mens Breakfast Ministry for over 30 years. His favourite hymn was Jesus Lover of my Soul. Dad was predeceased by four brothers Cecil, Lawrence, Ormie and Alvin and two grand-children Samantha and Tim Lorentz. He leaves his dear wife Mabel, daughters Frances (Earl), Betty Anne (Allen), Carolyn (David), seven grandkids, 14 great-grandkids, his sister Frances, sisters-in-law Marge, Emily, Ruby, Grace and many, many friends. Sincere thanks to Dr. Venter and staff, Teulon Hospital, Michelle and Vera and to all of those who have been such a blessing and help. Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Church, Stonewall, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tribal Trails, TV Ministry, P.O. Box 3030, Prince Albert, SK S6V 7V4. MACKENZIE FUNERAL CHAPEL STONEWALL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

  • Was visiting with Sommin & Mable the last Quarry Days a year ago. I had a good visit with them both. Sommi will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Marian Klassen (Friend) on: Sep 23, 2012

  • Somie and I used to tease each other all the time! He used to tell people that when he hugged me he had to mark the spot and then go around and hug the other half! Then he told people when you hug Kathy you get your money's worth! I love you Somie! It has been a great 40 years! - Posted by: Kathy Harber (very good friends for nearly forty years) on: Sep 21, 2012

  • Our deepest and most sincere condolences to all of Somie's family. Somie ALWAYS treated us the same. He was a very genuine friend. Back in the nineties before carrying water bottles around was common place, I would always bring one to church with me. Somie, being the responsible door greeter that he was, teased me about what was "in there?"/ "maybe I'd better uncap it so he could take a sniff!" and joked about not letting me in! He always had me laughing as I walked into church each Sunday. I pray that our Lord will let him be at heaven's door to greet us again as one by one we join him. He will be missed- no doubt about it. - Posted by: Irene and David Armishaw (Friends (and sister and brother in Jesus)) on: Sep 21, 2012

  • I think he was the first person I met in this town! What a sweet man, at 89, he cleared my driveway as I had no tractor yet! Bless your dear sweet soul. You will be remembered (with a smile)for your wonderful heart and missed! Rest well God's warmth Friend. - Posted by: Lisa Gerow and Luc Molin (Neighbors and friends) on: Sep 20, 2012

  • Mr. Anderson was a dear friend to my parents, Walter & Shirley Jahns. I have a fond collection of memories that includes evening visits, joint family outings to Hecla Island & Assiniboine Park, and bonfires at the Anderson farm. Mr. Anderson was a sincere and charitable man, and will always be remembered. - Posted by: Pat Jahns-Kraak () on: Sep 20, 2012

  • A truly great man--humble, trustworthy, caring, a true joy to have known. Am so glad that he and his good wife came into my life so many years ago. I have so many treasured memories of our times together. I am so glad that they were friends of Walter's and therefore became friends of mine. You will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Shirley Jahns Mulvey (friend) on: Sep 19, 2012
