AMELIA DUDEK (nee KONOPKA) December 18, 1923 - September 19, 2012 Our beloved mother, babcia, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88. Amelia was born in Poland and came to Canada in 1963. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugeniusz, in 1999. She is survived by son Chris (Cheryl), daughter Mary (Vincent); grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Aleksandra, Michael and Jonathan; her sisters Lucyna and Aniela; nephews, nieces and cousins in Winnipeg, Toronto and Poland. Mom was our rock (krzemien) and inspiration. Starting a new life in Canada at 39, and having children in her forties, she lived a full blessed life. Upon retiring from the garment industry in 1988, her joy and passion of gardening and cultivating fruit trees energized her. She was anchored by her devotion to her faith and church. She instilled in her family her pillars of pray, work and save. Our mother made a deep imprint on our lives and she will always be lovingly remembered for her humour, dignity and strong mindedness. Mom, babcia (babunia), ciocia, we love and miss you - your courage and strength will be our lasting memory alive in our hearts. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, nurses Lyn (home care), Anne, Kirsten (palliative), and Gail (cardiac) for your counsel and compassion. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. with Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating.
