  • I was so saddened to hear of Cheryl's passing. We had some great times together in Guiding. I always remember when computers were "new", Cheryl just knew what was going on and how to use them. I know that she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Marj. Sarna (friend through Guiding) on: Oct 01, 2012

  • Cheryl's Granny and my Mom were sisters. It was only recently, at my Mom's funeral, that I met Cheryl for the first time, although I knew a lot about her through Mom. Mom always looked forward to Cheryl's emails and cared deeply for her. She was so very brave and had such an amazing attitude. When I spoke to her on the phone a few times during my Mom's illness and after Mom had passed away, Cheryl never complained about her own situation and took the time to support me!! She was so kind and I will never forget that. My deepest sympathy to Cheryl's family and dear friends. May she rest in peace. I have no doubt that she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Bev Cumiskey (2nd Cousin) on: Sep 30, 2012

  • To Cheryl’s extended family, I was deeply saddened to hear that Cheryl had passed away. The last time I saw her was when back for a morning in May, at Whiteshell Labs, to help at the annual safety awards meeting. Her prognosis at that time seemed so encouraging and we all applauded her news. I first got to know her as the helpful friendly voice on the WL switchboard, most welcome to hear when phoning in anytime, especially so from overseas when traveling and feeling a bit homesick. All the operators were good; however, it was always nice if it was Cheryl that answered. She was so full of life and you knew that every effort would be made to put you in touch with the people you needed to talk to. Later in her various jobs at WL these talents, her people skills and drive made her a respected and well-liked colleague, so pleasant to work with. She will be much missed. • To Cheryl’s Family I extend my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy. I know that words seem so inadequate at this time, but I know from my own experience that they do bring peace and comfort. Please cherish and Treasure your memories of Cheryl, she was a very special person and she touched many lives. She will never be forgotten. The last time I saw Cheryl (and I had not seen her in many, many years) was at the Wpg. Airport. She, Tim, Vicki & Kent were off on their vacation together in 2010 (I believe). I later learned about her illness from Vicki (her special “Hydro Stinky” friend, cousin and Sister-in-law). Cheryl and I attended school in the Townsite together and then Whitemouth and spent time together in the years of our youth. In my heart I knew I needed to get in touch with her and I am so happy that I was able to share some e-mails with her about our families, share some memories of the days gone by and hopefully I offered her some comfort with my words, thoughts and my prayers. My most vivid memory of Cheryl and something that set an example for me, and put me in awe of her at a very young age was her strength, her determination and her commitment to raising and caring for her children. They have lost a wonderful “Mother” & their children have lost a wonderful “Grandmother” . . . I can still hear her laugh after all these years and I too love the movie “Dirty Dancing”. My only wish is that Cheryl would not have had to battle this horrible disease and that she could have had “The Time of Her Life” for years to come instead of having to leave this earth and all of her loved ones behind at such a young age. This quote is how I believe Cheryl fought her battle . . . “I’ve never been one to run from a challenge”.
