CZESLAW (CHESTER) GERTNER It is with sadness we announce, that Chester Gertner, passed away on September 19, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Chester was predeceased by Helena, his wife of 49 years, and by grandson Michael. He is survived by sons, Edward, Leon, Mike (Bonnie), daughters, Irene Donachuk (Sam), Teresa Howell (Mark), grandchildren, Trisha (Larry), Andrea, Mark, Christie, Chase and Summer, great-granddaughter, Callie. Chester was born in Poland on April 26, 1926. He served as a paratrooper in the Polish army. While in England he met Helena (Hys) and they married in 1948. In 1950 they immigrated to Canada and raised their family. Chester worked many years as a welder for C.N.R. until his retirement. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation prior at 10:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 5819 Henderson Hwy. with Rev. Jerry Talarski, O.M.I. officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chester's memory to the Corpus Christi Church Building Fund, or a charity of one's choice. 204-586-8044
