JESSIE SCHADE April 18, 1918 - September 18, 2012 At the age of 94, with family by her side, Jessie Schade of Starbuck passed away at the Carman Hospital on September 18, 2012. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Ronald, and her daughter Sandra (Clare); grandsons Jeff (Brenda) and Tim (Cherie); and great-grandchildren Andrew, Jessica and Benjamyn. Jessie was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1991, parents William and Mary Kowalchuk, sisters Pearl, Nettie, Alice, and Katherine, brothers John and Fred and three brothers in infancy. Jessie was born and raised in Teulon, Manitoba. In her early 20s she moved to Starbuck and worked in the hotel restaurant. Jessie married Walter Schade on September 24, 1942 and together, the family farm in Starbuck became their home. Farming and raising their children was their life. Jessie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Starbuck, Manitoba, the Order of the Eastern Star and a strong supporter of local community activities. Jessie was an out-going person who loved company and good times shared with others. Their home was always open to family, friends and newcomers to the community. Jessie was a life-time member of the Starbuck Ladies' Curling Club, a favourite activity, especially at bonspiel time. Recounting curling stories was a popular pastime. For 24 years Jessie and Walter wintered in Mesa, Arizona, among many good friends at the Goodlife Trailer Park. In 2003, after 61 years on the farm, but choosing to remain in Starbuck, Jessie moved to the Riverdale Apartments where she resided until this past summer. The family extends their appreciation to the staff of the Boundary Trails Health Centre and the Carman Hospital for their recent care and compassion. Thanks also to the many Starbuck friends for their support and kindness. At Mum's request, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at the Starbuck Cemetery, half mile west of Starbuck on Halland Drive. All are welcome to attend. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Starbuck Hall for a time of refreshment and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of one's choice. Doyle's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. www.doylesfuneralchapel.com
