ROBERT (BOB) GORDON OTTO On Thursday, October 4, 2012 Bob's Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue.

ROBERT (BOB) GORDON OTTO With sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of Robert Gordon Otto on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 as the sun rose. Left to forever cherish Bob's memory is his loving wife, Fran; children Trevor, Jackie and Jodi; son-in-law, Raymond Lacroix; grand-daughters Lauren and Michelle; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Mary; father Henry; infant sister, Lydia; sisters Audrey, Freida and Dorothy; brothers Fred, Oscar, Art, Carl, Albert and Walter. Bob was born on May 28, 1929 in the town of Gladstone. During his early years he farmed with his family. From 1949 till 1952 he took on the position of Postal Clerk in the Gladstone post office. In years to come he held various jobs from Thunder Bay to Edmonton. In June, 1958 Bob joined the Department of National Defence Fire Service and was posted at the military base in Churchill, Manitoba. He was transferred to the R.C.A.F. base at McDonald till its closure in 1963. In 1964 he joined Protective Services with the Atomic Energy of Canada at Pinawa where he reached the rank of Captain. Bob met and married Fran in Gladstone and they moved to Pinawa to begin their life together. Here they raised three children. He enjoyed taking them fishing, sliding and skating. He also greatly enjoyed their friends. Bob loved sports and when he could he played hockey, curled, golfed and especially, he loved to play baseball. Bob loved people. He was a personable man who enjoyed having a cup of coffee and a chat. He was a regular at Second Cup at River and Osborne. In 2006, Bob and Fran moved to Winnipeg and enjoyed what the city had to offer. Bob was especially thrilled to have the Jets return, as he was a huge fan. This move also brought him closer to his children and granddaughters. On Thursday, October 4, 2012, Bob's Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. H. Da Silva, St. Boniface Hospital I.C.U., 6E, and for the overwhelming support of all the staff in Emergency. A special thank you to Lesley O'Hara for her support during this difficult time. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. Rest in peace. We will love you forever and ever.

Dad, to you, the gardening season is upon us and I am sad that you will not be here to help me with putting up my pea fence. I was the one that always said if you follow Bob's instruction you will never wind up on the bad side of TBL; if you do, Bob will have your back. You influenced me more than you could ever know Bob.
