ALBERT WALTER EYOLFSON -
Date of Passing: Sep 24, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT WALTER EYOLFSON 1928 - 2012 Peacefully, on September 24, 2012 at West Park Manor, after a lengthy illness, Albert left us. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, his children Douglas (Sowmya) and Alison (Jeff), grandchildren Max and Lauren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Olafur and Magnus. Albert was born in Prince Rupert, BC. He spent his early years enjoying life by the sea, and served in the Sea Cadets. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, where he distinguished himself in marksmanship and horsemanship. He had the remarkable distinction of performing the Musical Ride, including a memorable performance at New York's Madison Square Garden. Al's RCMP career sent him throughout numerous locations, including a posting in Dauphin where he met the love of his life Jean, with whom he shared 59 happy years of marriage. After 24 years in the RCMP, Al decided a career change was in order, and entered law school, which led to a 25-year career with Christie Degraves Mckay (now Inkster Christie Hughes). Al's dedication to family was legendary, and he was always the go-to guy for everything from help with school projects, to home repairs, to rides anywhere. Al loved life at the lake, where he built a magnificent cabin that is still sturdy and pristine after more than 30 years. Despite his declining health over the last few years, Al was still able to enjoy the love and company of his family. He will be sadly missed. A celebration of Al's life will be held at St. James Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 28. In lieu of flowers, please take someone you love out to lunch. Mr. Eyolfson was my first boss along with Colon Settle. Mr. Eyolfson took me under his wing and taught me so very much, with the most important things being never stop learning and enjoying life to the fullest. He was probably the kindest person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. My heart and prayers go out to Jean and the family. What a wonderful person to have in your life for so long and what great loss his passing will be. - Posted by: Cindy Supleve (Former Employee) on: Sep 28, 2012

Al was a fellow lawyer when I practiced law in Manitoba. He was a good lawyer - knowledgeable - and had his client's interests in his mind. We met sometimes and it was positive. I remember him as being special. Ken Regier - Posted by: kenneth p regier, qc (fellow lawyer) on: Sep 27, 2012

I was sorry to see that Mr. Eyolfson had passed away. When I started working for Christie MacKay I sat right outside his office. And when his assistant Vivian had left, I was asked to work for him along with Mr. Settle. It was a joy and a pleasure working for him as he was a very sweet man. After I had left Christie MacKay, I needed a Health Directive for my father and I had called on him and he had prepared one for me without any costs. The last time I saw him was at the Christie MacKay reunion at Mr. MacKay's house but I had spoken to him on one occassion to praise his son, Dr. Doug Eyolfson as he had treated me at Seven Oaks for a collapsed lung. Mr. Eyolfson was a wonderful man and one of the nicest bosses I had in the legal field (also a good teacher). He will be missed by many. To Jean and family, my heartful condolence to you all.
