MARTHA SCHADE February 9, 1925 - September 27, 2012 Peacefully, after a brief illness, Martha went to be with her Lord and Saviour. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Adolf and Alvina Schade, sister Olga Schade and brother-in-law Henry, and one brother, Albert, who died in infancy. She is survived by her brother, Henry Schade, and sister-in-law Ottillie, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Martha will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Martha was born in Poland. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1930 and settled on a farm in Greenwald, Manitoba, where she lived until 1957. She lived in Beausejour before moving to reside in Winnipeg. As a member of a farm family, Martha helped out with the various tasks of homekeeping. She also liked looking after the children of relatives and took on sewing jobs to help them out even further. On moving to the city, she worked as a seamstress and cleaned houses. Martha lived a humble and faithful life. Self-sacrifice was a part of her daily experience and caring for the needs of her family was commonplace. Her quiet service brought blessing to others. A service will be held Wednesday, October 3, 1:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg with interment at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the Beausejour Zion Lutheran Cemetery. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Donwood Manor for the kind and compassionate care given to Martha, during the years that she lived there and palliatively. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crisis Pregnancy Centre of Winnipeg, 650 Broadway Avenue West, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0X3.
