Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANE (JEAN) OLYNYK A lovely angel was welcomed into heaven on September 26, 2012. In Sundown, MB, a beautiful daughter was born to Joseph and Axanna Plichta, on May 28, 1934. Jean moved to Fort Frances with her family at the age of 10 and was a resident there for over 50 years. Jean married Joseph (Joe) Olynyk on October 25, 1952. Joe proposed to Jean on their first date. They were together for 59 years. Jean is survived by her husband Joe and children: Denise (Russ) Joss, Terry (Rhonda) Olynyk and Maria (Bill) Dobransky, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Jean's sisters; Elma (Stan) Wepruk, Dorothy (Bill) Wepruk, and Anna (Larry) Wood. Jean was a wonderful woman who brought many smiles and laughs to others. She loved to tell stories about growing up in a large family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Everyone got lots of hugs and kisses. We loved Jean's cooking, especially her signature tiny perohy and holubtsi, her tasty gravy, and Christmas butter tarts. Jean was a member of St. Anna's UWAC and St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Jean was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage and enjoyed being part of the Ukrainian choir. She loved to sing and dance whenever possible. In 1995 Jean and Joe moved to Steinbach, MB and later to Niverville. Jean faced many difficult health issues throughout her entire life but remained strong until her passing. Funeral services will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, MB on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Interment will follow in Sundown, MB. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Arthritis Society. Mom, we love you so very much and know that you will always be watching over us all. Vichnaya Pamyat. To my most beautiful & wonderful Aunt Jean, we never seen much of each other, but we tried, but there was always that 2500 miles between us. But now we'll miss you more than ever, and all I can say right now, is that we're sorry that we didn't make it up there these past few years. We will miss you, but still love you. You are now in good hands and will no longer suffer as you have in the past. God will take care of you, and you will be with family forever, so until we meet again. For love will follow us, no matter how far. - Posted by: William & Tomi Olynyk (Aunt -nephew) on: Oct 01, 2012

My deepest sympathy on your loss. I remember serving Jean at the Manor in Niverville. Joe and Jean were always happy to be served exactly what they ordered. I miss those days. - Posted by: Barb Friesen (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2012
