ADAM ANTONCHUK Adam Antonchuk, beloved by his family and many friends, passed away peacefully and into God's hands at Donwood Manor on September 29, 2012. He leaves behind Carol, his beloved wife and best friend of 67 years. He is survived by his sons Ron (and wife Kathy) and Bob (and wife Mary), his grand-children Steven (and wife Edie), Jennifer, Kelly and Kyle, and his great-grandchildren Jordan and Rachel. He is also survived by his younger brother Hnat in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his younger brother Bill who lived in Cowan and his older sister Peraska who remained in Ukraine. Adam was born in Ukraine on April 4, 1923 and immigrated with his parents to Canada at the age of six. He grew up in Cowan and at an early age went to work at the mines in Flin Flon, where he met and fell in love with Carol. Carol and Adam farmed in Cowan before moving to Winnipeg in 1955. Adam was employed by The Winnipeg Tribune, where he worked his way up to Circulation Manager. When the Tribune closed, he retired to spend winters in Florida and summers at Camp Rusalka. Adam was Manager of Camp Rusalka and was on the Executive of the Ukrainian National Federation (UNF). Wherever he went, he befriended all he met and is remembered with a smile. Though everyone, including me, misses him, was so lucky to have an incredible, fun great grand dad, with amazing storytelling ability. • Sorry for your loss Carol & Family. Adam was great joy to be around with his laughter and great story telling ability. I recall many gatherings both in the city and at the camp where Adam was the life of the party. I especially recall Adam leading "the gang from the lake" in singing Mnohaya Lita at my wedding, we shouldn't let the old ways get left behind and Adam insured that they didn't in every thing I recall him being involved in. Sorry I couldn't attend the service and I'm sending my deepest condolences on behalf of the Vonau family. - Posted by: Jerry Vonau (Family Friend ) on: Oct 05, 2012

  • Bill and June send their condolences to Carol, Bob & Mary & family in the loss of your loved one. Bill always enjoyed listening to Adam's stories about when he lived in Cowan as Bill knew some of his friends while working for CNR. Adam will be missed, but knowing he is in the arms of Jesus will be a comfort to all. God bless..Bill & June - Posted by: Bill & June Brychka (Good Family Friend) on: Oct 03, 2012
