GEORGE PENNER It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the Hunter Memorial Hospital with family and friends by his side. George, at the age of 90, was predeceased by his parents Henry and Katharina Penner, his siblings Nick, Erwin, Henry, John and sister-in-law Marlene, Irma and brother-in-law Ray and Herb. He will be remembered and missed by his loving wife Mary, of 62 years and children Erika Davidson (Dave), Randy Penner (Debbie) and Edith Desmarais (Dietrich) along with 10 grandchildren and spouses and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Ellie Tews (Richard) and Katie Penner as well as sisters-in-law Jane Penner, Anna Penner, Mary Penner and Lois Penner, along with his cherished nephews and nieces. George was born in Orloff, Russia in 1922, and immigrated to Canada in 1926. In 1950, he married Mary Klassen and settled on a farm in Petersfield where they farmed and raised their family. In 2001, they moved to Teulon and enjoyed retirement and recently celebrated their 6oth anniversary. Dad's deep commitment to his faith and church community has been an integral part of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing, however, his love was his family and for that we are truly thankful. A bible verse he kept close to his heart was John 3:16. A special thanks to Dr. Pillay, nursing staff and EMS crew for their compassion and excellent care. Family Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hunter Memorial Hospital.
