EMILY MAYER December 12, 1917 - October 6, 2012 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Emily at the age of 94 at Action Marguerite (Tache Centre) on October 6, 2012. She will always be lovingly remembered by her son Ronald (Karen), grandson Dean (Julia), granddaughters Rhonda (Kevin) and Kerry, and her great-grandsons Liam and Sean. She is also survived by her brother Walter (Della), her sister Barbara and also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Barney in 1991 and her son Robert in 2002. Emily was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan on December 12, 1917. She moved to Winnipeg and worked at Canada Packer's for a few years until she married Barney in October, 1944. She was an amazing cook and passed on her talents to her grandchildren. Upon her retirement from the shoe repair department at Eaton's, she took up creative writing courses, painting and continued to learn and grow. She enjoyed travelling and began to see the world. She travelled through Canada from coast to coast, the US including a cruise to Alaska, Germany, Greece, Australia, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and Morocco. In her late 70's, Emily did a one- week canoe trip though the Mantario Trail which included numerous portages and camping. Emily will always be remembered for her love of family, friends, and her faith in God. A celebration of Emily's life and interment will be held at Green Acres Cemetery (Hwy #1 East at Navin Road) at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Her family would like to thank the staff at Action Marguerite, 5AB, for their care and compassion for Emily during the past few years and especially in the past couple of weeks.
