JACOB FROESE Jacob Froese passed away in his 85th year after a lengthy battle with cancer on October 6, 2012 at Concordia Hospital. Jacob is now reunited with the love of his life, his wife Gerda, who passed away five years ago. Jacob's sisters Maria and Martha passed away in 1992 and 1973. His brothers John and Victor passed away in 1957 and 1982. Born in Halbstadt, USSR June 16, 1928, Jacob married Gerda on August 6, 1949 and immigrated with her to Canada in December 1949 from Germany. Jacob is survived by his loving nephews and nieces: Peter and Ed Loziuk, and Helen Mackenzie (nee Loziuk) of Ottawa; Vicky Catto (nee Froese) and Ralph Froese of Kelowna; Inge Rumble (nee Froese) of Australia; and Alexander Froese, Irina Archipenko (nee Froese), and Anna Froese of Germany. Jacob, an avid hunter and fisherman, spent many days and months on the fields and rivers throughout Canada pursuing his passion, as evidenced by the numerous trophies and fish on the walls of his home. A kind, wonderful and truly gentle man, he will be sorely missed. Thanks to the nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital for their loving care in Jacob's last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Memorial service to be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame, Winnipeg followed by tea and sandwiches.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue. Longer obit in Saturday's paper.
