MORTON DANIEL LARSEN October 26, 1938 - October 6, 2012 Mort passed away on October 6, 2012. He is survived by his wife and friend Corinne; his children Leif (Jennefer), Aaron (Mandy), Kim and Jason (Cathy); grandchildren Daisy, Scarlett, Ryan and Chelsea; his brothers Wayne (Gale) and Darrell. He is also survived by his in-laws Margaret and Douglas Hicks, along with a large extended family. Mort had gusto for life and loved to laugh. He was a man of many interests and always seemed to be looking for more hours in a day to read an article, learn a new computer program or work on a building project. He never ran out of things to create, do and learn. Mort was always a huge fan of his children, taking delight in their accomplishments. He always made himself available to talk with them about their hopes and dreams. But he also believed that everyone needs to find their own path, and knew when to step back and become an observer as they had their own adventures. Mort was an entrepreneur. Before his retirement, he was involved in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of a wandering patient and infant abduction RF identification system called Roam Alert. His company EXI Electronic Systems successfully marketed Roam Alert throughout Canada and USA. Despite the changing face of business, he still regarded a handshake and a promise to be a person's bond, a quality he instilled in those around him. Mort was a unique man whose 13 years of retirement allowed him to pursue so many of his interests. Some of my favourite qualities about him were his integrity and loyalty. Mort was loved and will be missed. Please join us in a gathering to take place on October 24, between 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Winter Club Riverview Room. Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • We met Mort and Corrine at a pivotal time in our lives - they sold us our first home, their previous home. Though our contact was brief in terms of actual time, they had a profound impact on us and we have frequently remembered them, and Mort's "bon mots". We are saddened to have just learned of his death. - Posted by: Mila Wendt and Gary Trolley (fellow life travellers) on: May 11, 2014

  • Corinne and Mort Loved coming to Vistana on the Beach ! I grew to be a part of thier lives for so many years, I felt more like a long time friend then a resort front desk associate to them, and thier family. Mort had a BIG smile,A true Gentle Man! , with a smooth velvet voice that made you want to be still and listen a little closer. Corinne was always the lovely and sweet and bright eyed woman on his arm ! The two of them always together, going out and enjoying the sun and fun in Florida! Thank you for the priviledge and honor to know Mort, i know a part of both of you will always be here with me at Vistana. Your corner unit overlooking the beautiful blue ocean awaits you..sit down on a balcony chair Mort, warm your face in the sun, close your eyes, and dream. • So saddened to hear of Mort's passing. As family friends from the time our children were young through several years of working side by side with Mort and Corinne I have many wonderful memories. Thinking of him always brings a smile to my face if not an outright laugh recalling his wonderful sense of humor. He leaves an amazing legacy in the memories friends and colleagues have of him and lasting impact he's had on his family and everyone he came into contact with.
