CAROLINE MARTHA MATTHEWS (nee SCHMIDT) 1923 - 2012 After a brief illness, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and friend. Remaining to cherish her memory are son Kevin, daughter Donna and granddaughter Melanie. Mom is survived by brother Ralph (Olga) of Kelowna, BC and sister-in-law Leona Matthews of Moose Jaw, SK, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many of her dear friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband Carl in 2005, son-in-law Peter in 2008, as well as six brothers, Herman, Arthur, Leo (Anne), George (Elsie), Arnold, Ernie and one sister Willa (Emil) Maurischat. Our mother was an active member of the Fort Rouge congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years and found great joy in sharing her Bible-based faith with others. She found much comfort in the Bible's promise, Rev. 21:4 of a resurrection on earth when there will be no more pain, sorrow or death. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the doctors and nursing staff on Floor 6A-South, St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care they showed our mom during her final days. It was very much appreciated. In accordance with our mother's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal memorial service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Kevin, Donna and family. We were so sorry to hear about Auntie Caroline. She was always the most kindest, sweetest person I have ever known. I will always remember that warm smile she gave to everyone. She will be greatly missed. The Aitken family - Posted by: Ruth Aitken (Niece) on: Oct 19, 2012

We were so sad to hear about your mother. Caroline was always such an encouragement to our little family. She sent us such an encouraging card after our daughter was born. She gave such good advice to us as newlyweds and had fun stories about 'the good ol days'. She will be missed by many! - Posted by: Angela Daniel mattias and asha () on: Oct 14, 2012

So sorry to hear of your loss Donna, Melanie and family. We met your mom a couple of times and she was so nice and friendly to us. Especially when she found out we were your friends. The twinkle in her eye when we mentioned you Donna and how we know you she immediatly talked to us like we were family. Kindness we are sure others appreciated. Losing a parent is so hard but at least we have the promise of seeing them again in paradise. Your thoughts and prayers are with you at this diffcult time. - Posted by: Kevin and Sandy Markevich (Friends of Donna and Melanie) on: Oct 13, 2012

Caroline was a most wonderful caring and generous friend to me. We shared many a joyous and interesting afternoon together either in person or just on the phone with my learning so much about love & patience for others and loyalty and endurance in serving Jehovah in good times but especially in times of trial and tribulation. I will miss her very much until we meet again in Jehovah's beautiful new system of things. What stories & laughter we will share then. - Posted by: Bonny Rogers (Friend & spiritual sister) on: Oct 13, 2012
