Born: Dec 01, 1925
Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHANNES VICTOR (BRODIE) THORDARSON December 1, 1925 - October 11, 2012 Brodie left the loving embrace of his family to be reunited with the love of his life, Joyce. Left to cherish his memory are Brodie's children Joy (Winston); Victor (Deb); Doreen; Connie (Dennis); and Russell (Bonnie); grandchildren Charmaine (Jeff); Cheryl (Kevin); Kristin (Kevin); Matt, Jill, Jori; Jennifer, Sean; Axel (Heather), Riley; Melissa (Kyle), Josh (Robin), and Adam (Ivana); and great-grand-children Ty and Brandon; Max; Nolan, Austin, and Sienna; Mikaela; Chloe. Afi was full of pride and joy as he waited for Jill to soon give him his ninth great-grandchild. Brodie was also much loved and will be missed by Helga (George); Dora; Esther; Viola (Jim); Connie (Charlie) and numerous family members and friends. Brodie was predeceased by his parents Joe and Nina, sisters Loa and Rosebjorg. For Brodie's family, there was simply nothing he would not do. The larger the favour, the faster was his offer of support and help. In his home every visitor was welcomed and appreciated. In his life every person received equal measures of respect and acceptance. He was a true gentleman. His is a legacy of many lessons, taught through his unwavering concern for the well-being of others, the importance of a well-timed joke, a listening ear, and his uncanny ability to know just what ills can be cured with chocolate. There were few things that prompted a brighter smile to Brodie's face than visits with his many grandchildren. Nobody could celebrate their achievements as loud or keep their secrets as secure as their Afi. He cherished each of them and never failed to say so. Brodie left this world just as he lived within it with quiet strength, constant grace, and surrounded by love. Although he will be terribly missed, we know that he has taken his rightful place among the angels where he will continue to bring us love and comfort. Goda nott elskan min. A memorial service to celebrate Brodie's life will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brodie's memory to a charity of your choice are most appreciated. Neil Bardal Funeral Centre 204-949-2200

My Afi taught me so much he cared for me my mom and my sister. Now that he is reunited with my Amma I'm at peace more and more. I think of how happy they were together. I feel that life is short but life doesn't end once you pass away their spirit continues on in all of us who they touched and cared for!! I will miss him so much I've never stopped missing my Amma I still cry probably once a week tears of joy mostly, also a longing of that warm embrace of my Amma's and that stubbly cheek of my Afi's Life goes on as we all must. I LOVE YOU AMMA AND AFI!! - Posted by: Sean T. (Grandson) on: Oct 23, 2012

I came to know Brody while he was a patient at Gimli Hospital. He truly was an extra ordinary gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor and a very giving nature. A true sense of that was shown by his devoted family, taking him on outings and being by his side on good days and bad days. Thank you Brody for teaching me to be even an more thoughtful and caring person. Rest in peace Brody, knowing that you have touched so many lives. I will be thinking of you each time I have a Werther's :) - Posted by: Brenda Zagrodney (friend/caregiver) on: Oct 13, 2012
