Date of Passing: Oct 11, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR (ART) CARL KNOPF Peacefully at Concordia Hospital on Thursday, October 11, 2012, after a brief illness, Arthur (Art) Knopf, age 83, went home to be with the Lord. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Hildegard, daughter Liana (Donald Klapecki), son Paul, sister Irmgard (Earl Feick), in-laws John and Heidi Schroeder and Dagmar Redekop, along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Phillipina Knopf, sister Eleanor Knopf, and Hildegard's parents, Victor and Lydia Schroeder. Art was a talented and avid wood carver and model plane and boat enthusiast, who also loved spending time with his family and Grandpuppies Cinder and Maddie, at his children's cottage at Otter Falls. Dad was always puttering and very proud of his rock garden there, spending many an hour searching out just the right rocks for placement, or heading out just to trim a bit off the branches on the trees around the cottage. We would like to thank Dr. Darcy Johnson, and Dr. Henry, as well as all the nurses and aides on N3W at Concordia Hospital for the wonderful care he received. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to D'Arcy's ARC or to Mennonite Central Committee. Memorial service will take place on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the North Kildonan Mennonite Church, 1131 Roch Street, Winnipeg, with a reception to follow downstairs. A family interment service will take place following the reception. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338 - 7111
