Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Noticing Liyo's obituary in the paper brought back a flood of womderful memories that I had with the Yamada family. David, we enjoyed some great times together both at your folks place and out at the farm. Your mom and dad were very special people and my folks cherished that friendship. All our condolences to all of you on the passing of your mom. I'm sure she will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Fred Erb (Friend of the family) on: Oct 27, 2012

  • My wife Cathy has said it all - and we have many fond memories of her and Nobe. Since a child, Kiyo was such a special aunt to me. She was warm and fun and supportive - and her qualities really shone as she helped our family during mon's illness and passing. I will dearly miss her. - Posted by: Steve Sakiyama (Nephew) on: Oct 21, 2012

  • The first time I met Auntie Kiyo was when she came to Toronto for our 1982 wedding. It was a very supportive thing for her to do and I know meant a lot to mom (her sister) A few years later Steve and I and his parents met up with Uncle Nob and Auntie in their place in Vancouver. At one point I could hear this crazy laughing upstairs and went to find out what the story was. Turns out Kiyo and mom are both sitting there in their slips, tears rolling down their faces as they are recalling their shopping that day: one moment being in Salvation Army (they loved a bargain) and the next moment being greeted by a violin player in Holt Renfrew (they also had excellent taste and loved good quality) I married into a wonderful family and am very grateful. Our daughter's middle name is Kiyoko and I tell anyone who asks that this is the beautiful name of our wonderful aunt. - Posted by: Cathy Sakiyama (Kiyo's nephew Steve's wife) on: Oct 19, 2012

  • Pat and Peri: My thoughts are with you and your family. I don't remember meeting your Mom but she sounds like someone I would have liked to have known. - Posted by: Renee Will (Nursing Colleague) on: Oct 19, 2012
