She also leaves to cherish her memory three brothers: Aimé (Lucie) Gauthier, Roland (Monique) Gauthier and Adélard Gauthier; two sisters Jeannette Champagne and éliane (Denis) Nadeau; and her in-laws: Jean Granger, Jean Gauthier, Sr. Hélène Poiron, René Poiron and Louise Poiron; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Anita was predeceased by her husband Roger in 2010; her parents Irma and Elas Gauthier; three brothers: Maurice (Thérèse), Roméo and Oscar; two sisters Léonie (Louis) Granger and Hermance Granger; Roger's parents Marthe and Rogatien Poiron; Roger's siblings Norbert Poiron and Victor Poiron. Anita was born on December 7, 1932, and lived in La Broquerie, Manitoba. She married Roger on July 21, 1955, and moved to Somerset. Mom had heart and was a woman of action. She was gentle, determined and courageous. She had a great love for life and an undying sense of humour even when she came face to face with the final challenge she had to accept. She devoted many hours toward her family, the parish and the community. Her passion for the French language and culture was recognized with a Réseau award in 1991, and will leave a lasting impression in the community. She participated in many plays and skits for the francophone community of Manitoba. Her belief in loving thy neighbor and her concern for social justice was shown by her many acts of charity. She supported the less fortunate by sponsoring a family from overseas. She also fought courageously to denounce abuse in the church and to obtain healing and therapy services for the victims. As a member of the Comité culturel, the Daughters of Isabella, Parish Council and various other committees, mom modeled the importance of getting involved in the community. Over the years, Mom enjoyed many trips to a multitude of places; her favorite being a Pilgrimage to the Holy Lands with the Nathanael Team. After each trip she would arrive bearing every one of us a souvenir gift. Mom's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. It was a pleasure for her to create hand-made gifts for every member of her large family whether by sewing, crocheting, knitting or other handicraft. We will always have touching memories of family gatherings made memorable by sing-songs, skits, games and of course our famous Bonhomme à trois pattes . Mom, we miss you and will hold you in our hearts forever. Prayers were held at Adam's Funeral Home on Friday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were be held in the Notre Dame de la Nativité Catholic Church in Somerset, MB, on Saturday, October 20.
