ROMAN GERETA December 15, 1929 October 22, 2012 Suddenly on October 22, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., surrounded by his loving family Roman passed away at the Gimli Hospital. Roman was tragically predeceased by his son Andree and son-in-law, Craig as well as by his parents and two sisters in Ukraine. Roman is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pam; daughters Anna, Luba (Bruce), and Joy (Kevin), son Terry (Sue) and daughter-in-law Keri. Also survived by grandchildren, Ryann (Blair), Ben (Danielle), Carleigh (George), Michael, Stephen, Jenny, Tim, Matt, Ali, Justin (Kristina), Owen, Josh, Erica and Liam, also great-grandson Heath. Roman was born in Ukraine and ended up in England at the end of the Second World War. There he met Pam; they married in 1957, and started a new life immigrating to Canada. Roman was a boilermaker and retired in 1990 ending his career at CN Rail. Roman and Pam moved to Gimli which he loved, and he could be seen with a fishing rod on the pier where he would show off his catch to other people. Dad was a fixer and builder, fixing many washing machines, dryers and furnaces. He was always tearing down a wall, putting up drywall and painting. He was a vibrant member of Sacred Heart Church and the community. Our family would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care and kindness given to our dad and also to us by the nursing staff at Gimli Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Roman's life will be celebrated on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
