OLGA SZARKIEWICZ We, the family of Olga Szarkiewicz, are deeply saddened to announce her sudden passing at the Grace General Hospital on October 24, 2012. Mom was born February 20, 1923 in Poland. At age 16, she was taken to Germany. There she met Frank Szarkiewicz. They married on August 15, 1947 and arrived in Canada shortly after. Mom greatly loved her new adopted country. Her home was always filled with great friends. Mom was a fantastic cook, perogies, chicken soup, cabbage rolls and her whipped shortbread where enjoyed by many. Olga was predeceased by her loving husband Frank in 1987. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda (Don Shumilak), son Tony, grandsons Ian (Karen) and Aaran Shumilak, David, Kevin (Cher Hoffman) Szarkiewicz and her precious great-granddaughter, Ariel Shumilak. Honorary pallbearers will be her godchildren, Ed Tawkin, Audrey and Phil Kuzdub, and Linda Lee. Our sincere appreciation to the Seven Oaks Hospital (ER) and the Grace Hospital staff for the compassion and care you showed her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Holy Ghost Church Fund or any charity of your choice. "Wieczny Odpoczynek Racz Jej Dac, Panie" CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
