LEONORE RUTH STEWART July 27, 1923 - October 20, 2012 Finally, Mom you are out of pain and in peace. The past year has not been an easy one for you, battling dementia and then to be diagnosed with cancer in its latter stages. It was not easy to watch the progression of your life over this time, as it took away your ability to remember, and also your freedom. You were always a very busy woman, working for 37 years at the bank, while being a wife and raising two children. You were very talented at many things, but your ability to play the piano by ear was something that always amazed me. You taught yourself at a very young age and kept all of us entertained throughout the years. You were also a very good cook, especially baking, and I can recall all of the many cookies, cakes and pies that were a part of our lives. You were active all through your life, watching Allan and I in our sports and being with the love of your life Glen. You were both such great dancers, it was a treat to watch the two of you. I know that you and Dad will be dancing together again. I will miss you dearly Mom, but I know that you are in a better place now. I would like to thank Mom's best friends Al and Shirley, especially after Dad died you never stopped including her. I would also like to thank Doreen, Kathy, Bev, Glen, Michelle and Jamie for all the time you spent with Mom, especially towards the end. Rita, you were like Mom's guardian angel, looking out for your roommate all the way to the end and I can't thank you enough. A special thanks to the staff at Golden Door for their care, and caring attitudes you showed Mom throughout her stay with you. Love Noreen, Karen, Angel and Cricket Granddaughter Bonnie and family There will be no service. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Lee was one of those very special people who could welcome you into her world with a warm smile that shone from her eyes. You knew she meant it. She was the first person I met when I moved into the Rotary Villa. I was in shock; having just sold my home in the country and moved into Winnipeg to be near my husband who was placed in the Golden Door. Lee made that move so much easier by including me right away in her life. I will always be grateful for her sweet and loving ways. She was fun and good for a little innocent mischief once and awhile. I miss her. My family soon learned to appreciate her as well. We are sorry for your loss and her suffering and glad those days are gone.
