STELLA TKACH June 4, 1923 - October 23, 2012 A gentle, quiet, endearing lady left this world and on to Glory. It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandma and great-grandma on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Tuxedo Villa at the age of 89. She will be eternally missed and cherished by her beloved husband Fred of 68 years; daughter Olga (Manfred) Legiehn, Pinawa; and son Laurence (Suzanne) Tkach, Vancouver. Mom's love for her grandchildren was immense and they adored her. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Dr. Gerald (Carmel) Legiehn of White Rock, BC; Kimberly (Allan) Hutchison of Winnipeg; Jude (Belinda) Tkach, Vancouver; and Beau Tkach of Vancouver. As dear to her were her great-grandchildren Sierra and Tianna Hutchison, and Lauren, Owen and Olivia Legiehn. Stella will be deeply missed by her sister Beatrice Korotash and brother Mike (Stella) Galay, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents William and Annie Galay, sister Mary Zamrykut, brothers Steve and Paul and two brothers-in-law. Mom loved to work and when the children became independent she enjoyed over 20 years in the textile industry, the last 15 years in a supervisory role. She valued her Christian faith, enjoyed gardening, cooking, entertaining, music, RVing and loved the beauty of the land. She was an avid cook. In her earlier years she enjoyed singing in the church choir and in her spare time she enjoyed embroidery and made many tablecloths, pillowslips, bedspreads and duvets. But most importantly she was fond of her family and was happiest when the family visited. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. October 29, 2012, at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt Street, Winnipeg, MB, with Rt. Reverend W. Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Her pallbearers will be Dr. Gerald Legiehn, Jude Tkach, Beau Tkach, Manfred Legiehn, Allan Hutchison, William Tkach. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Atwal, the staff at Portsmouth Retirement Residence and, as of recent, the staff at Tuxedo Villa for the dignity and exquisite care they all provided. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Stella's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or a charity of one's choice. Mom, your passing is difficult to endure but you laid a strong legacy of love for your family that will enable us to carry on. We will miss you in so many ways, we will remember you in so many more.
