GLENN CAMERON BELL 1948 - 2012 We are sad to announce the passing of Glenn on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Grace Hospital after a 10 year courageous battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Susanne (Maretzki), brother Dennis Bell (Diane), sisters Sheila Berezuk (Gerry), Heather Ostop (Bob); father-in-law Bill Maretzki; in-laws Sigrid Sawchuk (John); Manfred Maretzki; Ralph Maretzki (Kristy); Bill Maretzki (Lori); his nieces and nephews, Wesley Berezuk (Lynne), Jennifer Berezuk, Pamela Ostop (Jeremy), Andrew Ostop (Rachel), Stephanie Hampson (Kevin), Michael Sawchuk, Jessica Sawchuk, Jordon Maretzki, Aaron Maretzki; great-nephews Bowen and Samuel Hampson, and special friends Jessica, Jacquelyn, and Justin, plus many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Glenn will be lovingly remembered by some as "Uncle Bear". Glenn was predeceased by his father William Bell, mother Alice Dawes, brother Bruce, mother-in-law Hildegard Maretzki. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Glenn attended Gordon Bell High School. He left school at an early age when his father became ill and he helped support the family. Over the years, Glenn held a variety of sales positions with companies such as Philips Electronics, Sioux Tools, Capital Fire Protection, Power Smart, several car dealerships, Aeromask, plus he was a self employed handyman and gardener. He married Susanne in 1968 and they made a life together for over 44 years. That life led them to Saskatoon, Regina, Chilliwack, Vancouver Island, Kelowna and Christina Lake. In their retirement, Glenn and Susanne upgraded and became full time RV'ers and Snowbirds . They had the perfect life - spring and fall in British Columbia, summers in Manitoba and winters in El Mirage, Arizona. Glenn loved life and met both its pleasures and challenges with vigor and enthusiasm. Golf was definitely this man's passion and he was happiest on the course playing a competitive game and then reliving each shot on the 19th hole afterwards! Susanne shared his enthusiasm for the game and it provided them many opportunities to make friends near and far. Summers spent at Lac du Bonnet were cherished by Glenn - loved people around him but also the solitude and of course fishing in the pontoon boat. Glenn followed the CFL for many years and cheered on the Blue Bombers - we are hoping he will arrange some divine intervention ! Glenn had a green thumb and loved his plants and flowers; he liked to play pool, and he was a great BBQ'er. Good memories of Labour Day weekends in Regina, Golden Falcon golf tournaments at Falcon Lake, curling bonspiels in Regina and Saskatoon, spending time with family in Swan River. Lately, he cherished the winters at their park model in Arizona sitting on the deck overlooking the golf course and enjoying many happy hours with friends there. At Glenn's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). For those attending, Glenn would have liked it if you wear casual attire. If friends so desire, donations in Glenn's memory may be made to the Junior Golf Program at the Christina Lake Golf Course, P.O. Box 611, Christina Lake, BC V0H 1E0. Many were touched by your life, Glenn. We miss you already. Rest in peace. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
