Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN JEAN WATT Helen Jean Watt (nee Holt) passed away at 99 years of age on October 27, 2012 at Taché Nursing Home where she spent the last ten months of her life. Prior to that, she lived independently well into her 98th year. Helen was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on February 2, 1913. She is survived by her son Bob, his wife Linda; son-in-law Terry Lawrie, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; all of whom she loved very dearly and were always a great joy to her. Also surviving Helen are her sister Natomah Nelson and brother Dr. Pat Holt, plus nieces, nephews and family friends. Helen was predeceased by her husband Earl; daughter Patricia; parents Ethel and Dr. Robert Holt; brothers Harold (101 years) and Gratton (94 years). Helen trained at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton where she obtained her R.N. Helen nursed in several hospitals throughout Alberta. Helen was an avid sports enthusiast and played hockey during her high school days. She enjoyed both horseback riding and down-hill skiing in the mountains while nursing in Alberta. She then met her husband Earl. They married after the war and settled in Winnipeg where she nursed until retirement. She and Earl spent many winters in Hawaii and Florida. She loved spending time at her cottage at Barren Lake with her little companion dog and bird. Helen made the best butter tarts and pastry, even some of the bears were sniffing around at the old cottage door steps while she was busy baking her famous apple pies. Helen was a proud, witty lady who will be greatly missed by everyone that loved her. Helen is at peace now, nestled safely in the arms of Jesus and will always be remembered in our hearts and memories. In compliance with Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private family interment will take place at a later date in her honour. The family wish to thank the staff on the 4th floor at the Taché Centre for the care given to her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Hi great grandma, sorry I didn't get to see you in your last months. You were very funny, dear to my heart, and you are going to be missed. You had a great and long life, filled with memories. I am happy that I get to look back on all your pictures and hear grandpa and grandma and everyone tell me stories about you from before I was able to have my own memories of you. Christmas will never be the same without you great gram, but it's okay, everyone will be okay. We are all thinking about you. Love you lots. xxo -kor - Posted by: Korrie Watt (Great Granddaughter) on: Nov 02, 2012

I just read Helen's lovely obituary a few mins. ago. online. She always said that she would live a long time as she maintained a healthy lifestyle, and she did. Helen and I worked at the Mall Medical, she as a nurse and I as a Lab. Tech. across the hall. She had a great sense of humour and we shared many a laugh. She and Earl were favorites of ours at the Lab. as Earl would always tease us, we loved it. Helen was everything stipulated in her obituary. I was honored to have known her. She will be missed. Sincerely, Yvonne Rindall. - Posted by: Yvonne Rindall (Friend and colleague) on: Oct 30, 2012
