Date of Passing: Oct 30, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEVEN NICK ROSTESKI June 22, 1948 - October 30, 2012 It is with profound sadness that we have to announce the passing of Steven Nick Rosteski on Wednesday, October 30, 2012, in the arms of his family at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB after a brief but valiant struggle with Cancer. Left to mourn Steve's memory are his mother Nellie; wife Diane; daughters Marlise (Steve), Cassie (Lyndsey); stepchildren Dave (Lisa), Jennifer (Chris); three grandchildren, Hanna, Madeline and Emily; sisters Diane (Don), Val (Andre); big brother Alex (Rosalia); as well as numerous nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Tom Rosteski. Steve was born in Birch River, the youngest of four. Setting out to seek his fortune as a teenager, he moved to BC and began building houses. He eventually moved his young family to Thompson, MB and founded Barefoot Construction. His company went on to flourish in Island Lake, MB. Steve built, among other things, beautiful churches and became the mayor of Stevenson Island, MB. He was an accomplished gardener, fisherman, Red Seal Carpenter and an avid antique collector. Steve was a kind hearted man who was always willing to lend a hand. He had a playful and gentle disposition with children, animals, and everyone who came in contact with him. A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012. For directions to the service, please contact Chris at 204-223-7571. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors of GB3 at Health Sciences Centre. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of one of the good ones. I met both Steve and Diane while working in Garden Hill. The laughs we had over the years and the few tears too are still fresh in my memory. Steve was one of the best and I always said to he and Diane.... "you two give me hope that party girls can find nice guys". Steve was beyond nice. Steve's appreciation, enthusiasm and interest in antiques and history were infectious. He loved reminiscing about hilarious things that had happened and telling stories of his adventures and encounters with people over the years acting them out for you. Steve, you were a friend who became like family and for that I am truly thankful our paths crossed and became intertwined. I met Steve in 1996, friends from the beginning. Totally loyal to the people he loved, he told you the way it was even if you did not want to hear it but did it out of love. If you asked him to help you out he always went above and beyond of what was expected. One time I asked him to look after our place when we went on holidays. Our potato plants got infested with bugs. He tried to kill them with powder and sprays, ended up picking them off by hand by the pails full. More work than the potatos were worth, but he was asked to look after them and that is what he did. Not too many people in the world like that these days. I appreciate the fact that I could call him my best friend over the last few years and I am honored to have known Steven Nick Rosteski. Will miss the morning coffees. Love you man. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Kevin Sigurdson (Freind) on: Nov 02, 2012
