MARY GIESBRECHT (nee FRIESEN) November 10, 1930 - October 29, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mary Giesbrecht of Selkirk, formerly of St. Laurent. Early Monday morning, October 29, 2012, at Red River Place in Selkirk, with family by her side, Mary passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour. Left to cherish her memory are her 10 children - Martha (Albert) Schroth; George (Debbie); Agnes (Claude) Roziere; Pete; Helen (Frank) Speed; Margaret (Steve) Borowski; Ed; Will; Sarah Krahn; and Dan; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren along with her sister Margaret (Edward) Broesky; extended family and many close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Abe (1999), her parents, her son-in-law Lyndon Krahn and granddaughter Marcella Roziere. Mary was born in Aberdeen, SK, where she met Abe. They were married in 1948, and in 1952 moved to St. Laurent, MB, where they raised their family and farmed for 25 years. In 1977, they sold their farm and moved into Selkirk. Mary worked in the kitchen at Betel Care Home for many years and was known for her gentle and caring spirit. Due to her health, she moved into Red River Place in the spring of 2010 and established many special relationships with the staff and residents. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Red River Place staff for their excellent care and compassion. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, November 3 at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 321 Sophia St., Selkirk. Viewing at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Stonewall Cemetery after the luncheon. In care of arrangements, MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall.

I will always love and miss you...and your popcorn balls and homemade play doh you would always make for all of us grandchildren as we crowded around the booth seat in the kitchen at the table.
