JOYCE AUDREY STERKELL 1928 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Sterkell on Friday, November 2, 2012 with family by her side. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Harry and Molly Ruff, brother Edward and sister-in-law Ruth. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Gordon Ruff (Gail) and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church where she gave so much of her time and talents. She also loved to volunteer at Luther Home helping those who could not help themselves. After many years of service it was Joyce's turn to let others help her. A special thank you to the staff at Luther Home for their care and compassion and to all those family and friends who visited her over the past four years, making her days a little brighter. Cremation and a private burial has taken place. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 815 Inkster Boulevard, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Luther Home Memorial Fund, 1081 Andrews Street, Winnipeg, MB or www.lutherhome.com. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • It's been many years since Auntie Joyce has passed. The other day I was fortunate to have my photo with the Grey Cup. As I stood there gazing at our trophy that our Bombers had won in November 2019, I though the of our Auntie Joyce. She had season tickets for decades, loved her football team, the Blue Bombers , and would have been at the Forks to celebrate , we all know that. She was the Bombers biggest fan. We finally won Auntie Joyce, we finally won !!!!!!..............Thinking of you. - Posted by: Lee (Family ) on: Feb 10, 2020

  • Auntie Joyce was the best "coach" for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, her spirit will live on and continue to cheer on her favourite footy team. One of the most amazing women I've ever known - keep cheering, AJ. <3 - Posted by: Jay (Great Niece) on: Nov 07, 2012

  • Auntie Joyce was the most generous and modest person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Even though she didn't have children of her own, she was a mother to many, including myself. She would do anything for anyone and always put others first. Even in retirement she was as busy as ever, helping others and taking care of her many nieces and nephews. Everyone seemed to know her, and she made every effort to do things for others. She will be greatly missed. Many memories of you, Auntie Joyce. Which I will truly never forget. - Posted by: Kristin (Great Niece) on: Nov 07, 2012
