Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY GAWALKO Peacefully on Sunday November 4, 2012 Mary Gawalko passed away at Concordia Place. Mary will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Eugene (Susan), daughter-in-law Dianne, grandchildren Kevin, Ryan, Mathew (Erin) and Jennifer (Scott) and great-grandchildren Kenadie and Grayson. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond, son Orest, her parents, John and Anne Gel, her brothers Mike, Harry, Peter and Henry Gel. Mary was born on October 12, 1923 in the Ukraine. Mary came to Canada with her parents and brother in 1929. Mary was a very kind-hearted person and was always there for family and friends. She also had a special place in her heart for animals. Mary was a member of the St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church and was involved in the St. Anne Women's League. Mary loved gardening. baking and preparing family dinners. She was an expert in Ukrainian cuisine, always making sure everyone had enough to eat. Mary loved her Ukrainian heritage and culture and passed this on to her children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place (2nd Floor) for their care, compassion and support. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St. Divine Liturgy will be sung on Friday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church with Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
