During the winter season he played horseshoes in the basement of the SRSS. He really enjoyed that time of getting together with friends. Bill also really enjoyed playing seniors baseball and fishing. A favourite pastime for Bill was watching his nephews and great-nephews playing hockey. Bill also had a big love of animals that was shown by his care for them when living on the farm. Bill served his country with dedication in the Second World War being stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Holland. When he returned from the war he went into the construction industry building bridges in Manitoba and Ontario. His sister Roselyn, his brother-in-law Gus, Gus' second wife Alvina, his parents, and his two sisters-in-law Milena and Wanda predeceased Bill. The family would like to express gratitude to the home care staff and all who helped Bill get around over the years when he could no longer drive.
