SISTER BERTHE ALARIE F.D.L.C. It is with deep sadness that we, Filles de la Croix, announce the passing of our dear Sister Berthe Alarie. She showed us courage and love during a lengthy battle with cancer. She leaves behind to mourn her death, her brother Laurent o.m.i., her sisters Lucille, f.d.l.c., Jeannine (Albert Courcelles), Mariette (Daniel Pintkowsky), and Thérèse (Michel Langlois). She will be dearly missed also by her sisters-in-law, Yvette (Forest), Thérèse (Magne) and Alice (Vachon) as well as numerous nephews and nieces, former pupils and friends. Berthe was born in St. Agathe, MB, on October 22, 1931 and attended school in St. Adolphe as a boarder. She began her religious formation in 1951 and pronounced her final vows in 1958. She began her teaching career in 1954 and built lasting relationships with many of her pupils in St. Adolphe, La Salle and St. Malo. She was school principal in St. Adolphe and La Salle, where she showed a great sense of organization, responsibility and determination. She cared for the students and her loving smile, as well as her sense of humour, helped her to face many difficulties and to overcome many challenges. Sister Berthe was a woman of prayer who especially loved to share God's Word. Her many interests are well-known by those who knew her. She will be remembered for her courage, joy, enthusiasm, love, compassion, as well as for her patience and prayerful sharing. The family and the Sisters wish to thank the staff and residents of Villa Aulneau for their care and compassion. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the chapel of Villa Aulneau, 601 Aulneau Street, on November 10, at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Adolphe cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to LeClaire Brothers 204-775-2220.
