Date of Passing: Nov 07, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET KRAWCHUK It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved Mother, Baba and Great-Baba in the early morning of November 7, 2012 at Concordia Hospital. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Pat Schween (Jim Shalansky), Lois and son-in-law Bob Chartier; granddaughters Debbie Davaney, Michelle (Mike) Watson; grandsons Allan (Mariska) Claydon, Michael (Tammy) Chartier, Christopher Chartier; great-grandsons Jayson Devaney (Holly Spencer), Tyler Devaney (Lisa Mabon), Travis and Braiden Watson, Corey Claydon, Caleb Chartier; great-granddaughters Taryn Devaney (Michael Bird), Cassidy Claydon, Paetyn Watson, Clarie Chartier, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Elma, Manitoba on February 3, 1916 to Daniel and Mary Stefanik. Mom was predeceased by her mother Mary at the age of three and had to learn life skills at an early age. As a young woman her inherent caregiving nature led her to work as a mother's helper, most notably for the Eaton family in Toronto, as well as for others in Texas and Winnipeg. In 1940 Mom married our father Peter with whom she is now reunited. Together they lovingly raised their two daughters. Hard times were a challenge for both of them and they worked hard together to provide a home for their family with love and affection. Her love of family and family life was unequaled and she took great pride in caring for her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom lovingly cooked, baked and hosted many family gatherings at their home. She lovingly embraced each new grandchild and great-grandchild and looked forward to every opportunity to care for and spoil them. Mom was employed by Eaton's Food Services until her retirement in 1979. Mom was an avid reader with a remarkable memory which remained with her until her passing. We will miss her wisdom and guidance immensely. Mom was a private person with a very warm heart and once you got to know her you loved her. In 2006 Mom left her home and moved to River East Personal Care Home where she made many new friends who gave her loving care. Our gratitude is extended to all of them. At Mom's request a private family funeral will be held. Reverend Gene Maximiuk officiating. Interment to follow at Glen Eden. Pallbearers are Michael Chartier, Jayson and Tyler Devaney, Michael Bird, Travis and Braiden Watson. Family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., Bronx Park C.C., 730 Henderson Highway. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Mom and Baba, you will be forever loved and missed. Thank you for the beautiful memories that we will cherish always. I am very sorry to hear of Margaret's death. My grandmother, Klara Hoffman, was a friend and sat with her at mealtimes at River East Personal Care Home for many years. I got to know Margaret through visiting my grandmother at suppertime. She always looked out for my grandmother and was very kind to me and interested in my life. I will remember her fondly. - Posted by: Robin Westmacott (friend) on: Nov 11, 2012

From the time I was a little girl MY Aunty Margaret was just wonderful to me. She would always buy me a beautiful Christmas present. Her cooking and baking was 'out of this world'. She was like my second Mom. I will miss her very much. She will in my heart and thoughts forever. Love you Aunty! - Posted by: Sharon Kelln (Niece) on: Nov 10, 2012
