Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCAROLINE (CAROL) VICTORIA SMITH (née LEVANDOSKI) Peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, this graceful lady left us on November 7, 2012 at the age of 88 to be reunited with her husband (Leonard, our Dad and grandfather) and two grandsons who had predeceased her (Danny and Joseph). Deeply mourning her passing are her children Laura (Bill) Adams, Julie (Jacques) Nadon, Jim Smith, Bev (Ted) Lylyk, Richard (Geri) Smith, Teresa (Robert) Labram, Pat Michalow, and Cathy (Bill) Walker, as well as 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Mom was dedicated to raising and caring for her family. Still, she made time to volunteer and spent her life as a care giver, always ready to help the needy. She was deeply faithful and dedicated to the Catholic Church. She was very active in the Senior Achievers. Carol was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion (Winnipeg Branch 141) since 1973, where she served in many executive positions including: Second Vice President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Head of Wakes for Veterans and Legion Members, Head of Joint Hospital Committee, Head of Social Committee, and member of Ukrainian Choir Committee and Poppy Tagging Committee. Carol was particularly proud to serve as Colour Party Sergeant at Arms. She was recognized for her dedicated service to the Legion, with a Jubilee Medal (1986), Certificate of Merit (1989), Life Member (1992), The Queen's Pin, the Meritorious Service Award (2004), and she was awarded her 40 Year Pin in November 2012. Carol was famous for the costumes she made for Legion shows. She would often also perform in song and dance numbers; Carol was a talented tap dancer and a beautiful soprano. The most joyous times for Mom were family gatherings. She would serve her unbeatable perogies, pyroshy, holupchi, borscht, and pastries. Carol was well known for her wonderful baking; her sweet treats were a staple in the lives of her children, grand-children, and great grandchildren - and they were better than from any bakery! She held a special place in each of our lives and we will all feel a giant void without her. Loving you forever and always, Mom (Grandma). Rest in Peace. The Lord bless you and keep you. May He show His face to you and have Mercy. May He turn His countenance to you and give you peace. The Lord bless you. The Blessing of St. Francis Prayers will be said at Cropo Funeral Chapel, Monday, November 12, 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church at Mountain and Andrews Street, Winnipeg, Tuesday, November 13, 10:00 a.m.. Pallbearers: Will Lylyk, Johnny Atamanchuk, Brandon Michalow, James Butler, Gibby Finnbogason, and Trenton Butler. 204-586-8044

It is so hard to believe that a year has passed without you, I miss you daily and love you forever. I don't know where you are but truly hope you are with Dad and all of our family that have left us. My sincere sympathy to all of the Smith family. Your Mom was indeed a wonderful lady. I have many fond memories of New Year's Eve dinners at my parents house with all the friends and their kids! I also remember Spring Teas at St. John Cantius with our Mom's busy in the hall and us kids playing in the basement! I know that each of you were shaped by your Mom's love and devotion. Mom,you were the strongest most determined person I ever knew until my precious Nathan came along, he is every bit as strong and determined as you and now I know where he gets it. Carol was my Mom's best friend for many years working at the Legion and performing in all her fashion shows. Me and my sister performed in some of her shows also. I also performed for the Sr. Achievers. I live just down the street from her and I would see her coming from the Legion from the bus, having to walk from Mt. Ave. I also attended many parties at her house that she had for the legion performers. The food she prepared was out of this world, especially her homemade buns. She never let me go home without giving me a bit of everything. She was the kindest, most generous, hardworking person I ever knew besides my Mom. Leana was a part of that trio and now they are all together in heaven with all the other members of 141. Enjoy your rest in Heaven. Say hi to my mom Evelyn. Grandma I sure am going to miss you, I will always remember you taking us to the Bay and going to eat at the paddle wheel... or when me and you would go on grandmas bus he was driving and just drive around with him... Im so glad you were around to meet anakin, I just wish you could have spent a lot more time with him and grow with all the little great grand kids... I love you so much grandma ..
