DORIS LILLIAN NYKIFORUK On November 6, 2012 Doris Nykiforuk, died in her home at the age of 53 years with her beloved wife, soul-mate, and best friend, Deborah (Debbie) Nichols, by her side. In honouring Doris's wishes, she stayed at home until her last breath, took God's hand, and passed through this world to prove that only the very best become angels. Left to cherish Doris' memory are her wife, Deborah Nichols; parents, Beatrice and Andy Parisien; brother and sister-in-law, Corey and Corina Parisien. She also leaves behind beautiful memories for her brother cousin, Jody Witwicki (Lori) their children Wolfgang and Sebastian; cousins Conrad Witwicki and Tracey Witwicki; nephew Matthew Greene; niece Melissa Parisien; Matthew's mother Annette Greene and family; cousins Karen and Melinda; all of Debbie's family, including sister-in-law Lori Boschelli; and many friends in Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her granny, Lillian Witwicki, from Crane River First Nations. Doris battled an aggressive cancer Glioblastoma that ravaged her brain, but left her beautiful spirit to remain. Prior to her diagnosis, she was a nurse (graduate of University of Manitoba, 1992), and worked here in Winnipeg, most recently at the Deer Lodge Centre, and previously in North Carolina at the Memorial Mission Hospital. She worked in NICU and Psych and was deeply respected by all her co-workers and patients. Doris faced life with an indomitable spirit, irresistible smile, and infectious personality. She was funny and goofy, but was also gentle and kind. She cherished and spoiled her puppy babies, Abby, Riley, and Lexie, and her greatest personal treasures were her family. In her last year and a half of life, Doris treasured every moment. Although our hearts are broken, we accept that she's at peace and are comforted knowing that she is watching over us. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Many special thanks to everyone at CancerCare Manitoba, especially Orit Reuter from Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris's name to her family or CancerCare Manitoba. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements. Doris was loved by all who knew her and will surely never be forgotten.

Denny, oh I saw your picture here and I had to smile! You are free now, God will watch over us and you can rest assured that we will meet again someday. I was blessed to have known you and Deb. I know she was your soulmate and care taker until the end of your time! You were a mighty lucky woman! Rest in knowing that you are thought of often, even in your passing you have created a time for me to remember our fun! I'm in Asheville right now, thinking of the good old days! We shared the same birthday, so u will never be far from my thoughts, nor will Deb, as her heart will be broken for a long time. In loving memory I will light a candle on your behalf. Peace be with you my sister friend! - Posted by: Melissa Dickens (Forever Friend) on: Dec 11, 2012

Bea and family...our deepest condolences. Although we did not know Doris on a very personal level, the Doris we did know warmed our hearts when we saw her with her Mom, Dad and family. - Posted by: Bev and Brent (Family friends) on: Nov 14, 2012

Hey Cuz, when I saw the picture of you in your white uniform, I could not help think you had to wear white duties shoes for your work. How many pairs of white running shoes Aunty Bea had to clean and then finally purchase after your visits with us. Your smile reminds me when we were all kids, running around and just being kids. Your distinctive screech “Jimmy”, “Bucky” or “Cocky” when we tried to include ourselves in you and Lenard’s “big kid activities.” It was nice to read that you pulled the pin under your own terms. I am sure it must be a difficult time for Debbie and all the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I wish I could be there. James D. Lee Toronto - Posted by: James D.
