MELVERTA L. FLACK (nee JOHNSON) 1942 - 2012 Beloved wife, mother and grandmother has gone to be with Jesus, her Saviour and Lord. Predeceased by her father John Boyd Johnson, and great-nephew Jacob Mindrup. She will be remembered by her loving husband David Flack, their children: Dena Stolp, Darla Flack, Dennis Flack; their grandchildren: Jordan Stolp, Kaelyn Stolp, Aryianna Flack, her mother Juanita Johnson, her brother Boyd (Wilma) Johnson, her nieces Paula Johnson, Aminda (Ron) Mindrup, her great nieces Ronnelle Mindrup, Ashley Mindrup, Jenna Johnson, Cassie Johnson and her neighbours, friends, and co-workers. Melverta was born in Venice, Illinois in 1942. She married David Flack and moved to Minneapolis, MN as they pursued a calling in ministry. Later they moved to Seattle, Washington then on to Winnipeg, MB, where they currently reside. Melverta enjoyed caring for her family, serving her church and the Deaf community. Her charm and optimism was always the glue that kept things together and working smoothly. She enjoyed sports, especially watching football. Recently she started golfing and even taught her older brother how to play. Since becoming a Canadian citizen she spent much of her time learning French. She enjoyed her work and colleagues at the Canadian Grain Commission and remained there until she was no longer physically able. A Memorial Service will be held in her honour on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, with Pastor Jeff Ramos, Springs Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to: The Renal Clinic at Seven Oaks General Hospital or CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Dave and family. I am going to miss Mel a lot since we were close co-workers and friends for many years. We really got to know each other well during this time since our workstations were right next to each other. I have many fond memories of Mel as she was a great person in every way. Mel was very kind, caring, compassionate and would always go out of her way to help others. Somehow, she always managed to put a smile on your face even when things were not going so well. Good bye my friend, I will be thinking of you. Your buddy Sean. - Posted by: Sean Sawh (Friend and Co-worker at the Canadian Grain Commission) on: Nov 14, 2012

I first met Mel some years ago at the retirement seminar and we ran into each other from time to time at the office. In 2010 our friendship became closer when we discovered we had an issue in common. We started to have regular lunch get-togethers. I can't say how much it meant to me to have Mel to talk to in those early months of uncertainty. Rest in peace, Mel, you made a difference. - Posted by: Gayle Chudzik (Friend, former co-worker) on: Nov 14, 2012

Please accept my deepest condolences. The way you spoke of your wife in the hospital, everyone knew she was a lovely person and was very loved.
