INGA-BRITT HESHKA (nee CARLSON) 1921 - 2012 It is with incredible heartache and profound sadness that we said good bye to our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, at the age of 91, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. She peacefully and quietly slipped away with Sandra and Joanne holding her hands. She is welcomed home again by our Dad Sandy who predeceased her in 2009. Mom was also predeceased by her grandparents, Carl and Anna, mother Linnea, stepfather Frank, and brother Roy. Left to forever cherish her memory are children: Sandra (Albert), Sandy Jr. and Joanne, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, also sister-in-law Irene Rach, brother-in-law Waldimer and wife Vivian, nieces and nephews and dear friends. Mom was born in Northern Sweden and immigrated to Canada at an early age to settle with her family in Broadlands, Manitoba. She loved to dance and it was at a dance in Winnipeg that she met our Dad, married in 1947 and the dance lasted 61 years. Mom first worked at the Star Lite Drive-In and then the Confection Bar in the Colony Theatre. She then became Head Cashier and was recognized as a member of the Twenty Five Year Club with the Company. She retired in 1986 when the Theatre closed to make room for the North Portage Development. She was happiest when cooking, baking and looking after her family and grandchildren. In 1991 she and Dad built their retirement home at Silver Falls across the river from where she grew up, and it was there that the family spent many enjoyable and memory filled years together. Our family is forever grateful to the wonderful staff and caregivers who with their dedication, compassion and love looked after Mom for the past six years and especially during her final days and hours. You will always be in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations if so desired can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Though our days with you have passed And our hearts are aching now We know you've found true rest at last Though your smile is gone forever And your hand we cannot touch We will never lose the memory Of the one we loved so much. Til we meet again and say Hi to Dad. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time in your lives. She was a wonderful lady as Wayne knew while working with her at the Colony Theatre. As well, my parents, Stan and Elsie and myself knew your Mom while visiting with my Grandmother at the Convalescent Home. To Sandra, Sandy and Joanne and family I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of your Mother...My memories of growing up close to your family will always be in my heart. We had so many good times at your home and I always remember your Mother in the kitchen, always baking and cooking for everyone. And she was so kind and always had a smile for anyone who came in the door. Your Dad will welcome her home now and they will be together once again eternally. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Friday...May it help in some small way to know I care. Love Bev - Posted by: Bev Hansell (Long time family friend) on: Nov 13, 2012
