DOUGLAS LOVE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Wayne Love on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the age of 64. Left to mourn are his brother Mark Barbarie, sister Marcia Tait, aunts and uncles Carolyn and Eric Lucas and Katie and Bud McIntosh, his niece and nephew, his cousins and his dear friend Gloria, her son and daughter, her grandchildren, and his ever faithful cat Thomas. Doug was a very talented guitar player and his love for music was demonstrated through the many bands, such as The Fifth , and well known musicians that he had the opportunity to play with throughout his lifetime. Doug loved to laugh and was never without a joke or two to share. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Doug's many friends at PACT for the care they provided Doug over the years. A service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Fly With The Angels Doug For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Hi there, my name is Lola and Doug was my upstsirs neighbor for 7 years...we shared many long talks over tea. It was a cool relationship between an older wiser city guy and a young country bumpkin living downtown. He was passionate about sharing his story and warning people about the perils of drugs...he loved to talk & share stories of his years as a musician. We were both artists and he shared his artwork with me & we enjoyed talking about & borrowing each other books. I have always wondered about him and now my internet search brought me here...my deep condolences for the loss of this kind & gentle man. May his soul rest in eternal peace.❤🙏🏼 - Posted by: Lola (Neighbor) on: Oct 28, 2022

I went to school with Doug. Played hockey with Doug at Deer Lodge. Went to grad with him and his girlfriend at the time, Bonnie Hemming. I was a great fan of Dougs and watched him and Bonnie many times play. I was proud of him playing with the Fifth. Not to put any other band down from the day but The Fifth may have been the best band in Winnipeg at the time. When I bumped into Doug over the early years, I was sorry for the life challenges that Doug faced. I was always his friend. I am sorry that I didn't stay in touch as I moved to Alberta in 84. Today I was looking at his photo in a school yearbook and decided to look his name up on Google which lead me here. I am sorry and saddened. He is a great memory in my mind. - Posted by: Brian Marshall (old friend) on: Jul 19, 2014

You were my inspiration to play guitar, in hope that I could be better than you one day. Although I play well, I never did quite reach your level. I have posted your passing on a Music site where all your old bandmates visit, as well as many other Artists from across the Country to allow them to reflect, share stories and say their goodbyes. You are held in high regard in the Music world Doug, always were. always will be. Thank you for inadvertently giving me a goal to achieve musically. Rest well.... - Posted by: Jeff McIntosh (Cousin) on: Nov 18, 2012

Doug your sense of humor was amazing. You were never without a joke for me......and a big bear hug. I will miss that so much big brother! I will also remember what an amazing musician you were. I remember sitting at the top of the basement stairs watching you jam with your bands. You are dearly missed Doug. Fly with the angels! - Posted by: Marcia (Sister) on: Nov 18, 2012

I am Bonnie Corden formerly Hansen. I am Byron Hansen's sister. Fly with the Angels Doug. I have fond memories of Doug, Byron and me and my sister Carol sitting around the table in my Mom's kitchen on Pontiac Bay in Westwood laughing and joking and drinking tea or coffee. In my mind I see a bright sunny day in the summer and in those days it seems we didn't have very many cares. That would have been around the late 70's early 80's. Byron passed away 10 years ago. My Mom and Dad have passed away also and my sister lives in BC and the house has been sold. It has stories to tell of happy fun times as well as some sad times. Rest in Peace Doug. - Posted by: BonnieCorden (Hansen) (Friend) on: Nov 18, 2012

I will always remember those days when we came home from school for lunch and Gramma gave one of us our choice each day - to this day I hate waffles as you must have bean with bacon soup. And then we would run to the radio to listen to Art Linklater "kids say the darndest things". Will miss you Doug!!! - Posted by: carolyn lucas (aunt) on: Nov 17, 2012

Doug and I were members of a group of 7 to 10 guys that used to hang out together in St. James in the late 60's. I live in Denmark now but heard from one of the other fellows who live in Manitoba still that Doug had passed away. I have a group picture from those days that I could send to the family if they contacted me at my email address. As we say in Denmark "Ære være hans minde"... "Honoured be his memory".
