GRANT FRASER We are heartbroken to announce the sudden and far too early passing of Grant Therrien Fraser, on November 14, 2012. Grant was predeceased by his father Gilbert Fraser and his infant sister Janet. He is survived by his mother Laura and his siblings, Gilbert (Linda), Lawrence, Linda (Brian), Susan (Len), Randall (Deena), Judy (Stuart), Delma (Dale), and Robert (Anna), along with his nieces and nephews Karen, Diane (Darryl), Miranda, Christopher, Amanda, Carly, Justin (Stacey), Jennifer, Matthew and Daniel and his great nephew Lance and great niece Anabel. The family would further like to acknowledge the grief of Grant's special friend Janice Mikula. Grant also leaves behind the family of his long term partner, Elaine Cusson. He was predeceased by Elaine's mother, Elsie. He is survived by Elaine and her children Joey (Shelley), Phillip, Angie (Ryan), and Nicole (Shane), and the grandchildren, Emily, Jaycie, Avery, Sadie, Kyle, Connor, Rhys, Jordan, Layla, and Matia, along with Elaine's brothers and sisters and their families. Grant was born on August 3, 1956, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in Winnipeg alongside his siblings on Jessie Avenue and then Rosedale Avenue. He lived in Fort Rouge for most of his life. Grant graduated from Churchill High and Red River Community College. Grant had a curious mind, he was a life-long learner and took courses up until the last year of his life. He worked for nearly 31 years for the Province, retiring just recently from his work with the provincial garage as Manager, Operations, of the Vehicle and Equipment Management Agency. He took great pride in a job well done and worked hard all of his life. Grant was well known to his family and friends as a joker, prank player, and all around laughter loving man. His generous heart has touched many people from all areas of his life, and he was always ready with a helping hand and a warm word. Every child fortunate enough to know Grant has fond memories of him, as he was a big kid himself and loved to tease. Grant was an animal lover, especially of cats. His neighbours on Jubilee were well acquainted with his helpful spirit and sense of community. Grant caught the travelling bug late in his life and loved to travel, and to watch his favourite sports teams, especially the Blue Bombers and the Boston Bruins. The family would like to thank the paramedics and ambulance crew that attended to Grant, along with the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital ER, whose caring words and support were deeply appreciated. The memorial service will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society at 45 Hurst Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or to the Children's Wish Foundation at 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. • My heart goes out to all of Grant's family and friends. To loose a loved one is the hardest thing in life that we have to go through. But we do have each other to help us through it, thank goodness for that. He will be in our heart and memories forever and nothing can take that away. To my sister Elaine, you were fortunate to find the love of your life, that is what makes this so hard for you. We have pictures and stories and most of all memories to help us keep him close. He is with our other loved ones now, that we are missing. I believe he is taking care of them all... See you later Grant and save me a good seat :)) Love Denise - Posted by: Denise Vallee (Grants girlfriend's sister) on: Nov 26, 2012
