TAKAO NAKAZATO It is with great sadness that we announce that Takao Nakazato passed away peacefully on November 11, 2012 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. We feel assured that he is now in the special place prepared for him by the Lord. Takao was born on March 12, 1920 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, the third of six children born to Nobuo and Sadako Nakazato, who had come to Canada from Okinawa, Japan. He moved to Okinawa with his mother and siblings when he was a child. After completing his education there, Takao returned to his place of birth in 1939 and was reunited with his father, Nobuo, who had remained in Canada to work and provide financial stability for his wife and children. With the outbreak of the Second World War, Takao had to move from the West Coast. He eventually lived and worked in many different places in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario, but settled in Winnipeg, a place that held many fond memories for him. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Yoshio, Kazuo, Hideo, Fumio, his sister Yasuko and his wife Chiyo. Left to mourn and cherish his memory is his son, Tony (Ayumi), sisters-in-law Toshiko Nakazato and Kiyoko Nakazato, many nephews and nieces as well as many dear friends. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Japanese Alliance Church members and friends for many years of fellowship, all the staff of the Charleswood Care Centre for their care, and to all the staff at the Grace Hospital. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the above location. Interment to take place privately. For those wishing to send flowers to the funeral home, please do so before 4:00 p.m. on November 21. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
