HENRY W. BARON 1921 - 2012 It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Henry Baron on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Bethania Personal Care Home. Henry was an extremely genuine person and never one to complain. He was enthusiastic about life and had a positive outlook on everything. He will be sadly missed by his family and always remembered for his wisdom, kindness, compassion and unconditional love. Henry was predeceased by his loving wife Bernyce (Bartko) in 2004, his parents Jacob and Maria Elizabeth (Mueller) Baron, his brother, his many sisters and their spouses. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Douglas (Dawn), daughter Carolyn (Danny) Stefanik, grandchildren Steven (Jodi), Shauna-Lee, Stuart (Ceri), Madelaine, great-grandchildren Rashaun, Rakem, Royal, Zenia, Taylor, Landon, sister-in-law Anna Withers, and brother-in-law Vic Clayton. Uncle Hank will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Henry was born on May 27, 1921 in Melville, Sask. He attended Ralph Brown and St. John's High School. In 1941 he joined CP Railway as an apprentice Boilermaker. In August 1942, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Boundary Bay, BC until September 1945, after which he returned to work at CP Rail until his retirement in 1981. During that time he met the love of his life, Bernyce, and they married in 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church where Henry remained an active member. Prior to Bernyce's passing, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Henry always loved family get-togethers in Matlock, Vancouver and the Baron Family Reunions in Sask. He also loved camping and fishing trips with his family, and rock collecting adventures with family and friends. He spent many hours at McBeth House Center where he played cards, enjoyed numerous dinners, parties and volunteered on various committees. Henry was very active in the West St. Paul and Rivercrest communities. On Canada Day 2005 he was asked to actively participate in the 125th Anniversary of West St. Paul and the 60th Anniversary of VE Day, Year of the Veteran. The last few years Henry lived at Bethania Personal Care Home. While living there he enjoyed listening to all the music and the German hymns. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Bethania for their kindness and compassion in caring for Henry. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Ave. on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Mennonite Memorial Foundation in Henry Baron's memory. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
