JENAYA HAWKINS April 23, 1975 - November 11, 2012 With great sadness, Jenaya Hawkins passed away after a long battle with Synovial Sarcoma. Jenaya lived in Edmonton, AB, for many years attending the University of Alberta and NAIT were she apprenticed as a welder. Jenaya continued that learning becoming a Journeyman B pressure welder where she manufactured parts and structures for heavy industry plus the Oil Gas industry. She worked at many large weld shops in the Edmonton area, eventually leaving them behind to start her own welding business. Her business ran successfully for many years but decided to move in a new direction 2008. Jenaya moved to Manitoba in 2008, starting a new road in life. On this new road Jenaya was fascinated with the Great Plains, she learned all about planting crops at a grass roots level. One item she enjoyed was the fall when it was time to sit in the Combine and watch the crop leave the field. Jenaya was a true advocate for animals. She spent countless hours rescuing pets and finding them homes via many animal adoption groups she was part of. She had a large network of people who she counted on to move animals to new homes across Western Canada. Jenaya found true happiness at Lea Bank Equestrian where she learned to ride her horses Shilo and Torsion. Jenaya spoke often of the spirituality of owning her horses, and learning to ride to anyone who she met. She made many friends and attended horse shows between treatments showing her commitment and dedication to living her life on her terms all be it battling cancer at the same time. No matter what Jenaya did from welding, gardening, deep sea fishing or Ti-Kwan-Do she worked at it till she did it right. Jenaya put her heart into everything she did. Her curiosity and attitude of never give-up moved her forward to many adventures. Jenaya was kind hearted with all aspects of her life, she was dedicated to her family and friends by putting there needs first. She loved the people she met anywhere she wentshe was truly a selfless person. Jenaya leaves behind her common-law-husband Vernon Snidal, her friends and family in Alberta and Manitoba but especially her pets Frankie, Greta (dogs) and Arthur (cat). Jenaya, Vernon and family would like to thank all the people who helped us through the past few years. We could not have done this without your help. A special thanks to Caitlin Bunkowsky for helping Jenaya in the past few weeks. A life celebration was held at the Brunkild Hall on Saturday, November 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Pembina Valley Humane Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Jenaya. I remember her as a beautiful, strong, and vibrant person with limitless energy. It's hard to think of a time when she didn't have a smile on her face. It's a tragedy to see you go at such a young age. You will be missed by all. Good bye Jenya. - Posted by: D.H. • I met Jenaya shortly after she was born..babysat her for a few years..Turns out she was the first person to babysit our oldest daughter. In the last few years, Jenaya followed her own path in life, a path that some of us will never understand. I am glad that during her final days in this world, she was with those she loved. I wish that all those that loved her could have said goodbye to her. She will always hold a special place in my heart, for she was Jenaya...My heart goes out to Terry, Sharon and Teleea Dutchak...Pat & Tracy Daley - Posted by: Pat & Tracy Daley (Family Friends) on: Dec 16, 2012

  • I would like to send my deepest condolences to Terry, Sharon and Tylia. I moved in next door to the Dutchak`s, and shortly after moving in, while out in the back yard I heard a little voice *Hello Mrs Budd * There on the other side of the fence was Jenaya. I had moved away and unfortunately did not stay in touch. To the family I wish you all as much peace as possible during the difficult time. Memories are a Keepsake of time, that lives forever in our hearts, May Jenaya find comfort in the arms of the angels. • I would like to give my deepest condolences during this most difficult time to all of Jenaya’s family and friends, most especially for the broken hearts of Terry and Sharon Dutchak, Jenaya’s parents in Grande Cache, and her sister Teleea Dutchak in Edmonton. I knew Jenaya throughout her childhood and into adulthood, starting as a small cute cherished little girl in her stylish fur collared coat, with her twirling cherry dress made by her Mom, when she appeared at my door one Halloween dressed as Robin Hood with her sister as Friar Tuck, when we would all go tobogganing at Pierre Grey, when we shared Christmas dinners together at her house, when I used to cut her hair, when she was so proud of Athena, when we went shopping in Edmonton for school clothes, when she babysat my children, when she graduated from high school, when I slept in her dorm room at Alberta University. I remember these and so many more wonderful occasions that I got to share with Jenaya and I am so ever grateful for the time we had together, and will treasure those memories and hold them close to my heart forever more. Love Simone (or Mrs. Hughes, as you would have said) - Posted by: Simone Hughes (Family Friend) on: Nov 29, 2012

  • When we lost Athena she was sick some time before she passed away. I slept with her every night and held her close. My mom and I were with her till the moment she passed away. Jenaya was away at school and was not able to be there. When she came home she cried with me and said how much she appreciated me being there with her and loving her. It seemed very important for her to say that to me . Thank you and bless you Caitlin, Vernon and family for taking care of her and loving her through to her last moments. She was a wonderful part of my life, I miss her and will always love her. - Posted by: Teleea Dutchak () on: Nov 28, 2012

  • I met Jenaya just shortly after she was born. My sister and I babysat her for the first few years of her life. She was such a sweet baby girl. My family watched her grow into a beautiful young woman....then she was gone. Heartfelt thoughts to Terry, Sharon, and Teleea. Always in our hearts Jenaya. - Posted by: Keri Millrons (family friend) on: Nov 26, 2012

  • My deepest condolences to Terry, Sharon, Teleea and Vernon. I have often thought of Jenaya and hoped we would meet again. She was a great friend througout our preteen years. From her love of Craig Simpson to her first dog Athena - I always enjoyed spending time with Jenaya - even as a teen she was passionate, knowledgeable and driven. After I left GC I missed her deeply and thought of her often - I learned much from her. I am very sad to hear of her very early passing and my love goes out to all of her family. - Posted by: Kris Cramer (School Friend) on: Nov 25, 2012
