RUDOLF (RB) KRENTZ It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Rudolf (RB) Krentz on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB, at the age of 91 years. He was born in Steinbach on June 6, 1921 to Christof and Emilie Krentz and grew up on the family farm in Friedensfeld and went to Bristol School where he completed Grade 8. He met Lena Pachal and they were married June 27, 1942. They lived on the homestead property for three years and then moved to a nearby property where he built the home where they would live for the next 48 years. During this time he supported himself in the construction field and pursued his love of dairy and grain farming. At the peak of the dairy operation he was milking over 80 cows. He sold the dairy quota in 1966 and began his own construction business. He had numerous projects which included the TD Bank, St. Paul's Lutheran Church (his eldest son Reg was on the building committee) as well as the Steinbach Centennial Arena. He also served on the Church Council at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Roy and Lena were the proud parents of five sons, Reg, Don, Ralph, Ken and Dale. As a father he instilled a strong work ethic in each of them. The chores were done before and after the hockey games. Fences needed to be mended and cows milked. He believed in the value of a day's hard work and a job well done. One of Roy's greatest loves - besides family - was sports. His greatest joy came from following his sons into the hockey arenas and cheering them on; he was so proud. Roy and Lena loved to travel. Dale, Ken, and Ralph's hockey brought them to Selkirk, Brandon, Detroit and Germany where they celebrated each accomplishment. As his sons' hockey wound down, he found a new passion. His grandchildren played hockey, ringette and baseball. The fridge always had the latest newspaper clipping on it which featured a "Grand-child". He was always so proud of each and every one of them and loved them always and forever. Dad was so proud of the family farm and the hard work that Mom put into their flower beds, which were phortographed for many weddings. Mom and Dad left the family farm and moved into Steinbach in recent years. This past June 27, 2012 they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Left to cherish Dad's memory are his wife of 70 years, Lena, and his sons, Don (Barb), Ralph, Ken (Brenda), Dale (Mavis), 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Ilse (Phil). He was predeceased by his son Reg and grandson Terry. He was also predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Mathilda, Elsa, and Ida and his brother Arthur. Today he celebrates eternal life with his son Reg and grandson Terry and loved ones who predeceased him. Our family lost a good man! A man of faith, hope, and love. The family would like to thank all those who provided love, care and support to Dad during his final months, especially his sister-in-law Norma and brother-in-law Seaton. Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Bethesda Hospital who took such good care of Dad and Mom this past year. A celebration of Dad's life will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, Manitoba on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor David Lowe will be officiating. Interment at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Hwy. #12 S. If friends so desire donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
