We very fondly remember the years we spent as neighbours of Cliff and Sheila at George Lake. Cliff walked every day along the road leading in and out of the community, always making sure to collect any piece of litter that might be spoiling the lovely landscape. Rest In Peace, Cliff, and our condolences to the Barrett families. - Posted by: Linda and Neil MacNair (Former neighbours at George Lake) on: Dec 12, 2012

Cliff was my partner when we served on the St.Vital Police Dept between 1968 and 1974,in Oct.1974 we almalgamated with the Winnipeg Police Dept. On one of the police. calls Cliff and I attended, 2 construction workers went down a city sewer on Sterling Ave.,in St.Vital and were overcome by sewer gas. I went down to pull them up and a home owner nearby tied the knot in the rope around my waist to lower me into the sewer. Just before lowering me Cliff came over and stated I wanted to check the knot to make sure it would not come loose and he pulled it and sure enough the knot came undone. He re-tied the knot and I was lowered into the sewer to pull up the workers.I have always remembered that as I would not be here today (he saved my life) if he had not taken the time to test the strength of the knot. The constructions workers and myself were all rushed to the hospital, the two construction workers died and I survived. Cliff was an excellent police officer and never left any stone unturned. It was a sad day for me when I heard Cliff has passed away. I thought I would share this story with you. So sad, Uncle Cliff was an amazing man, although never quite got the hang of stick shift in cars when he visited the uk. We had lots of fun times with him and Aunty Sheila and my cousins as we only lived two doors apart until they emmigrated. I bet Mum (Joan Britt) has the kettle on right now ready for a good catch up. RIP Uncle Cliff. - Posted by: Sarah Jones (nee Britt) (Niece) on: Nov 24, 2012

I remember Cliff from the old St. Vital police force when he worked with my late husband, Dewight. Always seemed a nice man, and I remember Sheila as a nice person as well. - Posted by: Roberta Beach () on: Nov 24, 2012
