DORIS FORBES 1919 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. Doris was born in Rocanville, SK, on May 22, 1919, to Alex and Catherine Cameron. She was the second youngest of seven siblings; Olive Gibbons, Archie Cameron, Jim Cameron, Bea Hewer, Jean Cameron and Bessie Johnston, all deceased. She moved to Winnipeg to pursue her career in nursing. She graduated from The School of Nursing at the Winnipeg General Hospital with her R.N. in 1943. While in Winnipeg she met her husband Perry Forbes. They were married in 1945, and lived in Winnipeg, Brandon finally settling in Dauphin. Perry passed way in 1976, but Doris remained in Dauphin and eventually moved to Winnipeg in 2003, to be close to family. She enjoyed a successful nursing career as the Day Supervisor at Dauphin General Hospital and as Director of Nursing at Dr. Gendreau Nursing Home in Ste. Rose du Lac. She is survived by her daughter Arlene Lietiphin; grandson, Keith Lietiphin; granddaughter Paula (Nelson) Torres and her great-granddaughters Adriana and Alicia, as well as two sisters-in-law June Kennedy and Daphne Forbes. The family would also like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their care and compassion they had showed to our mom/grandma. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. Interment to follow at a later date in Dauphin. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My lifelong friend and my mentor, graduating 41 years before me, I was proud to be part of the same alumni. Doris was so important to our family , and such a good friend to mom and dad. We are sad we are unable to attend the service, but will be thinking of you all. - Posted by: Barbara Moreland (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2012
