Born: Feb 13, 1921
Date of Passing: Nov 15, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE ETHEL HARTE (nee SMITH) February 13, 1921 - November 15, 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Harte at River Park Gardens with family by her side. She was 91 years of age. She was predeceased by her parents Martha and Joseph Smith, her husband George, daughter Dorothy Seed and many of her siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon (Edward) Saunders, grandchildren Sherri (Teddy) Hughson, Ted Saunders, and Sheri-Lynn (Dave) Wheeler, great grandchildren Nicholas (Melissa) Worth, Ryan Hughson, Joshua and Kathleen Saunders. Irene worked for many years at Canadian Linen Supply, until she retired in 1988. Mom was dedicated to her family and would always put the needs of family ahead of herself. She loved watching the Winnipeg Blue Bomber games on TV, wearing her Bomber shirt, of course. Win or lose, she was one of their biggest fans. So glad they won the last game she watched. Most of all she loved family gatherings, playing with Josh and Kate and great food, especially homemade fruitcake and butter tarts. She loved her sweets. She loved to play cards; Rummy was her game of choice. Many thanks to her special friend, Olive Mitchell, who allowed herself to be beaten most Monday and Friday evenings at our four handed game at River Park. Those evenings meant the world to her. She will never really be gone as she will live on forever in our memories and our hearts. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff at River Park Gardens and Dr. Pinette who cared for Mom during the last three years of her life. She spoke highly of you all and you really made River Park her home. A special thank you to Val for getting Mom's hair done so she would look great for her journey. Having a great hairdo was important to her. Thanks to all the staff who visited during her last days and for all the love and support they showed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. In respect of Mom's wishes cremation has taken place with private interment to follow and there will be no service. I ran into a HCA today from RPG and she told me about Irene. I got tears in my eyes, your mom became very special to me. She was always so sweet and kind. She would make me smile and brought joy to me when she would say "he has really blue eyes and he was a mailman right". I am so saddened to hear of your loss. BELIEVE ME, THOSE HAPPY MEMORIES REMAIN FOREVER. - Posted by: Darlene Trainer (Shaun was Irene's table companion) on: Nov 27, 2012
