Born: Jul 18, 1942
Date of Passing: Nov 25, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN MARIE ROZNATOSKI Born July 18, 1942 With great strength, courage, and determination our mother Joan passed peacefully at home, with her loving daughters at her side. Joan accepted Jesus as her personal Saviour at a very young age. Our shining star has ascended to the heavens to be with her Lord during the morning of Sunday, November 25, 2012. Left to cherish her memory, and deeply missed by her daughters are Robin (Gabe) Poczik, Tammy (Milenko) Carevic, Charlene (Mike Bahrey) Roznatoski. Also cherishing her memory are her sisters, Florence Scalena, Debbie Turchen; grandchildren Kristin Bishop and John Bahrey; nephew Jasen Turchen, and two great-nephews Austin and Teeson Judge. She was predeceased by her mother Nellie Turchen (Barta), father Joseph Turchen, sister Helen Turchen, brother-in-law Lou Scalena, and niece Shelley Judge. From a very early age Joan was a gifted violinist and had a deep love for music. She played all over the city and her music could be heard on the CBC radio. She accomplished winning the Silver Medal at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto at age 14. She was invited to audition for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Minneapolis Symphony when she was 17. She was employed at Acklands / Grainger in accounts receivable for numerous years. She also received her certificate in Interior Design at Red River College, all the while raising her three girls. In her early years she enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Sandy Hook. Some of the favourite things Joan enjoyed were reading, cooking and baking, entertaining family at home, listening to music and watching Saturday night old movies. She couldn't wait to go on shopping sprees in Fargo and Minneapolis with family. The family would like to thank all the healthcare professionals who helped care for Joan during her illness. We extend special thanks to the caring staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care Team, Concordia Hospital and River East Access Homecare. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Sawchuk for his compassion and devoted care to Mom. Also the family is grateful to nurses Jan, Colleen, Richard, Olah, Ann, Daryl and Jennifer; HCA's Linda, Joanie, Tennehba, Betty, Rowena and special friend Annette, who helped care for mom with their tender compassion and support during mom's last days at home. A small, private family gathering will be held in Mom's honour on Friday, November 30, 2012. Donations can be made, in memory of our mother Joan, to the Siloam Mission or The Winnipeg Conservatory of Music. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111 www.gleneden-mb.ca
