HELEN PSCHULSKI (nee GROENING) March 26, 1943 - November 25, 2012 With deep sadness and sorrow we announce that Helen - our mother, grandmother, wife, sister, mother-in-law, and friend passed away peacefully. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Hubert, of 49 years. Together they had two children, Ed (Barbara) and Valerie, and one grandson, Jesse. Helen is survived by two sisters, Evelyn and Eileen and three brothers, Frank, Abe, and Jake; along with sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Valerie, mother Mary, sisters Marie and Marge, brothers Stan and, in infancy, Benjamin and Johnny. Helen was born in Chortitz, MB and lived in the Winkler area until she moved to Winnipeg in her teens. Helen met her husband Hubert and they married in the early sixties. Soon they started their family with a home in North Kildonan where they been ever since. Her two children and grandson lived nearby to be close to them. Mom was very active in the community - she was a Block Parent, a volunteer at local schools assisting with lunch programs, reading skills and however else she could help. Her neighbours were her friends and often told us what they were up to. She was an avid reader - sometimes a book a day; the library staff knew her by name. The people around her were important to her. Helen was a very charming person to those who met her for the first time - a beautiful smile and sincere; it showed in her eyes. It was a joy to give her gifts, big or small, as she appreciated every gift she received. She showed this through her hugs, welcoming smiles from ear to ear, and just being herself. Her love for small collectible items, such as little angels that hung in her Christmas tree - not just Christmas, but all year long. Her little angels are now with her, along with her beloved daughter Valerie. Thanks for listening Thanks for caring Thanks for always helping out in time of need Thanks for sharing Thanks Mom, For always being there. To all of the incredible nurses, doctors, and staff at Concordia Hospital who did so much to help mom through this and make her comfortable - our most sincere thank you. Mom, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Mother-In-law, and Friend - Helen we will love you forever. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I remember being told stories about what she would do when I was very small... It seems that if I was sleeping or just being quiet she would come over to me and give me a pinch so I would wake up and start making a fuss. Then she had her excuse to pick me up and try to calm me down while asking what was wrong! I'd be more than happy to get another one of those pinches from her. - Posted by: Don Janzen (nephew) on: Nov 30, 2012

  • So sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies. - Posted by: Helen Perdonic (Friend of Ed & Barbara) on: Nov 30, 2012
