ELTON DONALDSON Elton arrived in this world on September 5, 1947. He was born to Charles and Anne Donaldson in the second story of a house overlooking Goose Lake in Roblin, MB. His childhood was spent in Silverwood and Roblin. When Elton was 14, he moved to Ottermere, ON. He lived there until 1966 when he began employment as a pipefitter with CN Rail. He then moved to Transcona and eventually Anola where he resided for the rest of his life. Elton loved life and many things but most of all, Elton loved going to Ottermere, hunting, and visiting with anyone and everyone. He always had a funny story to tell and most people heard all of his stories.twice. He loved cooking, especially making French fries at gatherings with family, neighbours, and friends. Elton had the exceptional ability to fix everything, making his garage a very popular place. He also had a mutual understanding and respect for all pets. Elton retired from the railway in 1995 and worked a variety of jobs including at Rohl Constructions and the Legislative Building. His greatest pride and joy were his children and his grandchildren. Elton Donaldson will be sadly missed by Ryan, Reid (Barbara), Kasia, and Maja, brother Ed Donaldson of Quesnel, BC, sister Marlene Hurley of Redditt, ON, brother Gilbert of Winnipeg, and numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbours. Elton left this world on November 25, 2012. A celebration of Elton's life will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Anola and District Community Club, Anola, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Life is just funnier with you around. Seasons Funeral Service - Oak Bank Manitoba

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Elton and I spent many happy times together in the basement of the old stores working for and with big Fred, and he will and should be remembered for his wit and great compassion. Rest well old pal - Posted by: Boyd Kramble (Friend and co-worker) on: Dec 03, 2012

  • It was with sadness that I learned about Elton's passing. He was a great working partner and I have very fond memories of our time together as Pipefitters at the CN. Elton was a smart man and good worker. However it was his great sense of humour that I will remember most. We never had a dull moment with Elton around. He always had a quick come back to any comment. Although through our retirement years I didn't see him much, I always enjoyed his company when we did get together. He will be missed. - Posted by: Garry Luckwell (fellow Pipefitter at the CN) on: Nov 30, 2012

  • Elton, you will be missed by many, especially me. You were the best neighbor and friend anyone could ask for. I have such wonderful memories of you and especially when you toasted me at my first wedding, it' a classic. Your sense if humour and jokes were always a crowd pleaser and unforgettable, I still "your" sawquatch joke to this day. I will miss you Elton...hugs to Joan, Ryan and Reid, I love you all!
