Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I lived with the Robsons for 2 years while I attended school for Lab Technology (1964-1966). What wonderful people they were. Elaine and I became good friends. I have kept in touch with Mr. Robson every Christmas, but I never sent him a card last year as I had just had cancer surgery and neglected to send any cards. When I didn't receive a card from him this year, I checked the obituaries. I am so sorry for the family, he was such a great guy as well as Mrs. Robson. When I lived there, I was treated as their own. I will always remember them. Sincerely Mavis - Posted by: Mavis ( Campbell ) Prokopiuk () on: Jan 01, 2013

  • My condolences to the Robson family. I had occasion to know both George and Al through my job at North West Commercial Travellers' Association. Many years ago, George wandered into the NWCTA office looking for someone to do some typing for him, and our friendship began. Over the years, I have enjoyed working with George on business material, Christmas letters and a variety of other little projects and always looked forward to seeing him at our golf tournaments. I fondly remember our first lesson on email! George had a delightful sense of humour and the stories he shared were priceless. While I hadn't spoken to him since last Christmas, I know that I will miss his presence. May the peace of God rest upon your family as you learn to live without him. - Posted by: Sheri Laudy (Friend) on: Dec 10, 2012

  • Grandpa has always been a true inspiration for us and for our children. He sang at our wedding, and through the years with his dog Robbie, and at the many costumed lip sync and skit nights. He had more energy than Duracell! Waterskiing in his 70's, horseback riding in his 80's at our family reunion, and at 97 he did the bird dance at my son's wedding. We had the honor of sharing the same wedding anniversary. We got married the day they celebrated their 45th. He lived life his way without compromise. He had his daily soup and sandwich and his water "HOT". He was of strong character of unfaltering faith and honesty. He loved life and lived it fully. He may have passed but his spirit lives on in us through his life lessons and the many great memories we have. We can't believe you're gone, Grandpa. We thought you would last forever. • I met George when we did the Disciple Bible Study together at Westminster Church about six or seven years ago. He was such a lovely gentleman. I always enjoyed chatting with him and was always thrilled when he made it to Westminster on a Sunday morning. I will miss him! - Posted by: Katherine Abra (Friend) on: Dec 09, 2012

  • Uncle George was definitely one of my favourite uncles. Since Auntie Edna and my mother Marjorie (Gilman) were very close, we saw a lot of them. I too remember those wonderful Boxing Day dinners which were always hosted by Uncle George & Auntie Edna - while my mother would host Christmas Dinner. One of my favourite childhood memories was when Uncle George would ask me and all the other kids "if we wanted to practice our posting" to which we would climb on his back and he would parade us (one at a time of course) though our living room, dining room and kitchen, screaming with laughter. He never seemed to tire and was always full of life. I will never forget you, Uncle George and I know you are in heaven still "practicing your posting". Sorry we were not able to make it out to Winnipeg but our hearts go out to you, Coreen, Lorne & Elaine and all of your families. With much love, Marlene & John - Posted by: Marlene Gilman (Niece) on: Dec 08, 2012

  • George volunteered for Big Brothers of Winnipeg. I was his 3rd Little Brother. I love George and his family for welcoming me into their lives. Through his love, faith, life lessons and generosity George encouraged me to become a better person. I enjoyed participating with him in his many hobbies such as golf and bowling. We had great times singing with the dog and tobogganing. He brought joy with him wherever he went. Although we will miss him I'm sure his faith will bring him closer to his wife and God. What a beautiful man. - Posted by: rick harrison (long time friend) on: Dec 06, 2012

  • So sorry to hear of Uncle George's passing. His extended family here in Edmonton sends our condolences to Coreen, Lorne & Elaine & all your families. My children have fond memories of visiting Uncle George & Auntie Edna in Florida in the late 1980's. Mom & Dad (Don & Ruth) had lots of great times with George & Edna in beautiful Fort Meyers enjoying retirement. Lots of memories come to mind of the amazing Boxing Day dinners Auntie Edna & Uncle George hosted. My 2 sisters & I are the youngest and littlest of the Robson cousins. Those dinners were filled with lots of activity, beautiful music, talking, laughter, great food and love. My sisters & I also had the great joy of helping Mom & Dad babysit beloved dog Danny. One of my last memories of Uncle George is his beautiful voice singing at my Mom's funeral. I am unable to attend Uncle George's Memorial Service on Friday, but our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Love, Rena & David Greenwood - Posted by: Rena Greenwood (Niece) on: Dec 06, 2012
