SANDRA PARCHALIUK (GRIFFITHS)
Date of Passing: Dec 04, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANDRA PARCHALIUK (nee GRIFFITHS) Surrounded by the love of her family, after a valiant battle with cancer, Sandra Parchaliuk passed from this life with great courage on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the age of 65 years. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her husband John, son Wayne (Lisa); grandchildren Mackenzie and Brennan, daughter Debra (Garrett), stepdaughter Susan (Don); grandson David, stepson Robert, siblings Carol (Morris), Linda, Leslie (Lorraine), Robert (Margaret), and David (Janet), as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also loved dearly by many friends and acquaintances and will be fondly missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents Allan and Doris Griffiths in 1984 and 1985 respectively. "Sandy" was born in Kenora, Ontario January 16, 1947. She grew up on the family farm in the town of Pellatt. When Sandy was young she worked hard on the farm helping with the care of the animals and also the gardens. Being the oldest in the family, she took on a lot of responsibility and was always there to guide and support her younger siblings with what ever they needed. In 1965 she met her husband John, and in 1966 they moved to Winnipeg, then married in 1970. Sandy's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother. Her children were blessed to have a stay at home mom, who made their happiness her number one priority. She was always there to help finish a school project, to listen and encourage, to share in the joys of their lives and to wipe away their tears. There was nothing that Sandy wouldn't do for her family. Sandy especially loved to cook and bake. As the holidays approached you could find her in the kitchen preparing many different types of cakes and cookies and her specialties - perogies and cabbage rolls. In the summer months Sandy would enjoy spending time outside taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens. One of her favourite things to do was to travel to her little piece of heaven on earth, her sister Carol's camp in Ignace, Ontario, to go fishing and relax and spend time with family. Sandy started working at Woolco in 1992, then later Walmart in 1994. She was a very dedicated employee and genuinely loved her job. Early in her career she was promoted to department manager and managed several areas over the course of her time there. She was saddened that she had to leave due to her illness. She especially loved the people she worked with and made many life long friends in her 20 years there. Sandy spent her life giving everything she had to family and friends and never asked for anything in return. She will be remembered for her love of life, her strong spirit, and the joy she had in helping others. She was selfless, courageous and brave beyond words and is an inspiration to all those she has left behind. A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Boulevard, Winnipeg. Memorial donations in Sandy's honour may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, or the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to CancerCare Manitoba, the GD4 and GA5 wards at the Health Sciences Centre, and the Palliative Care Service at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness, compassion and exceptional care. Thank you Mom for your dear sweet love, Now you'll watch over us from heaven above. - We love you - GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery (204) 222-3241 Condolences may be sent to www.greenacresfuneralhome.com

Mrs. Parchaliuk, Sandy, was the mother of one of my dearest friends and a truly wonderful woman. A warm and generous soul and O! The food! She was in her element in the kitchen while we "the girls" devoured her perogies and other nibblies. The Parchaliuks always made me feel welcome in their home, 2nd set of parents we'd joke - but it was true. Even as an adult Sandy'd be my 1st call when I needed to know how long to bake a potato or what not. She bravely fought cancer, what a tragic loss. She'll be missed. All my love to her family and friends. - Posted by: Tami Skjolden () on: Jan 02, 2013

Sandy was the mother of one of my very dearest friends...she was by far, one of the coolest moms around. I will always remember her as: 1. being very tolerant with a couple of crazy teenage girls that were boy and music crazy..she was so cool! 2. always smiling, Sandy was so generous and giving..no matter what, she had a smile and a laugh I will never forget! 3. super cute, she was just the sweetest thing and made me feel like family for so many years :) Although I haven't seen her alot in the last few years, she will always feel like family. Lots of love, Marnie - Posted by: Marnie Wilson () on: Dec 12, 2012

Sandy was my sister and best friend. She will be remembered for her love of life, her strong spirit, and her joy of always helping others, even it meant suffering herself. We saw this as she battled cancer, as much pain as she was enduring, her goal was to protect her family so they didn't hurt. I love you "Sam"..you were the best fishing partner I ever had..you will always have a special place at "camp.". You did not deserve to suffer the pain you did, and my only consolation of your loss is that you are now free.. - Posted by: Carol Groves (Sister) on: Dec 10, 2012
